This is a small lapel type pin, the quarter is shown for scale. My scale keeps switching between 1.7 and 1.8 dwt, so figure it at 1.75dwt. This pin was found in an Springfield, NH estate, with many photos and paper belonging to Brigadier General, Lee S. I do not believe that General Gerow went to USMA, so perhaps it was another family member. The pin is in very good condition, with wear commensurate with age. This is the original court uniform of a special infantry sergeant major from the Meiji and Taisho eras of the former Japanese Army. The molding at the base of the collar is frayed, and the threads attaching the molding have deteriorated considerably, causing the molding to fall off. There are insect bites on the red fabric on the sleeves. The epaulets are the ones that were on it when I got it.
