The lot consists of the following pieces; 1 large watercolor gouache framed under anti-glare glass signed and dated 1929. The subject matter is of Vincent Astor’s yacht the “Nourmahal” afloat in Dubrovnik, Croatia (Dalmatia). Vincent Astor was the heir to a large New York fortune after his father John Jacob Astor IV died on the RMS Titanic in 1912. The watercolor/gouache measures approximately 16″ x 24″ and the frame measures 18 1/2″ x 27 1/2″. Set of 6 watercolor/gouaches on 3 different pieces of paper. Each paper has a watercolor on the front and back. They are numbered 1-6. These are small studies done by Seits of various locations in Croatia (Dalmatia) of the USS McFarland Navy Destroyer. They were created as precursors to larger pieces that the artist had planned. The first watercolor is dated 1921 and the set was given to Lt. They remained in the Holmes estate his whole life. Each study is titled in pencil and each measures approximately 4 3/4″ x 6 3/8″. Each double sided watercolor is housed in a modern doubled sided glass frame that measures 7″ x 9″.
