A rare and very nice almost mint early 1930’s (possibly early HJ knife) with stag grips and trench knife style blade maker marked A. The knife is excellent, no damage, the blade pretty much mint with light runner marks, no sharpening or edge nicks. The hilt is perfect, no damage to the stag grips. The hilt still has it’s protective lacquer coating. The scabbard retains 99% of it’s original black finish, no dents or rust. Overall a very nice and near mint early 1930’s stag grip knife. This is a rare variant on the Dutch M38 (KNIL type) combat helmet. While all the M27-34-38 had a rolled edge, this example has a sharp edge. These helmets were made by Verblifa (Vereenigde Blik Fabrieken) after the German occupation of the Netherlands in 1940. The sharp brim made the production cheaper. The chin strap and liner are Original M34. Pads are original and in very good condition. The helmets were issued to police, civil defence and luftschuss units and could be bought privately as well. Nowadays very few examples in this Sharp-brimmed style are known. These helmets never had the bronze lion badge on the front. Notice the absence of the neck protection and adjustion strap in the rear of the liner, another specialty of this helmet. A wonderful survivor, rarely seen in this condition. It has Pershing’s autograph etched in the shellac but, in my opinion, the historical significance of this WWI recording is the speech on the other side by Ambassador James W. Gerard where he warns those German-Americans who are enemy sympathizers that they might be hung from America’s lamposts. Definitely VERY politically incorrect. Record in very good condition. Here is full content of Ambassador Gerard’s recorded speech. I know that it is hard for Americans to realize the magnitude of the war in which we are involved. We have problems in this war no other nations have. Fortunately, the great majority of American citizens of German descent have, in this great crisis of our history, shown themselves splendidly loyal to our flag. Everyone had a right to sympathize with any warring nation. But now that we are in the war there are only two sides, and the time has come when every citizen must declare himself American – or traitor! We must disappoint the Germans who have always believed that the German-Americans here would risk their property, their children’s future, and their own neck, and take up arms for the Kaiser. The Foreign Minister of Germany once said to me your country does not dare do anything against Germany, because we have in your country 500,000 German reservists who will rise in arms against your government if you dare to make a move against Germany. IMPERIAL RUSSIA ORDER OF ST. STANISLAUS, COMMANDER WITH SWORDS, (St Stanislaw) 2nd class , 45mm cross tip to tip, 56mm swords tip to tip, GOLD medal, cross, makers hallmarks on suspension ring and reverse, superb enamels, very rare. Established first by the Kingdom of Poland. After the Partition by the three world powers in 1795, the Czar nationalized it as a Russia Order of the White Eagle as well as The Order of the Virtuti Militiari in 1831. St Stanislaw is the national saint of Poland. His body is entombed in a silver casket on top of the alter at the Wawel Castle Cathedral in Krakow. A most beautiful work of art. The Russians gave out thousands of the civilian version of this order and they are available on the market for its gold content, however the Polish version has not been seen for sale for over fifty years in any class. Please also note that this military version is very rare because it was awarded for distinguished military service and NOT for making a donation to a charitable organization as per the civilian version without swords. After WWI, and specifically in 1929, an act of Congress facilitated organized pilgrimages to the grave sites of fallen U. Government paid the travel expenses for widows and mothers with the first group of pilgrims embarking on their journey in May of 1930. This is a collection of items from one such family’s pilgrimage. This collection was found grouped together and includes. Pilgrimage of Mothers and Widows Gold Star medal. Box in which medal was seated, marked Tiffany & Company on the front. Note that the medal itself is back-stamped B. 41 and not Tiffany. An enameled picture frame with a soldier depicted. In Ohio with patent dates of 1917 and 1918. Two small enameled pins, one with a heart and one with a star. These photos were found under an interior flap in the Tiffany box. Everything appears to be in very good, original condition. The Gold Star ribbon and the box do show some staining/soiling as can be seen. That is as much as I can tell you about these items.
