Minor rubbing on corners and, top/bottom of the spine. No loose, missing or cutout pages. Illustrated with clear and sharp photos. Here is a record of the crew of the USS MISSISSIPPI. It is a story of who they were and where they went. This Cruise Book has many division photos however, nobody is easily identified. There are only several people who are easily identified in this Cruise Book. There are five identified PlankOwners onboard during this cruise. The actress Alice Faye is photographed with a sailor in this book.
1935 USS Mississippi crew issued copper platter that is silver or nickel plated. This platter was issued to The captain at the time Captain Samuel Colby Loomis. It appears the maker stamped the back of the platter with the initials BRS which we believe is the manufacture. Also stamped on the back is 5743/23. We are not too sure what these numbers signify but likely the metal content of some variations. (See pics for condition) No bends or breaks. Nearly 6 lbs of solid copper. Navy silver soldered coffee pot that was pulled from the USS Currier DE700 before being sent out and sunk as a target off of the coast of California in 1967. The last piece is a Bronze US Naval Eagle Crest Insignia from Captain David Fowler Loomis that would of been on the captains cabin door and used as a door knocker. (See pics for condition).
