This well made Spanish Artillery Officer Sword, Model 1862 was manufactured by the “FABRICA DE TOLEDO ARTILLERIA” and dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a slightly curved blade that measures 30 5/8 inches in length which remains in superb, original condition. The lovely gilded brass hilt is adorned with a nicely detailed high-relief design of crossed cannons with a crown upon the face of the guard and frames a beautiful fishskin wrapped hilt with the twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. In silver gilt and enamels, 50x92mm (including crown suspension), unmarked, complete with full length of original sash with large rosette. Minor enamel damage on the lower arm and on the right arm. Multi-piece construction, silver gilt with blue and white enameled cross, on an eight-pointed star base. One small thin chipping evident in the blue enamels on the upper arm and one small thin chipping evident in the blue enamels on the lower arm. A small defect of the star’s lower silver beam.
