This Italian made type of helmet was ordered by the Greek government shortly before the Italian invasion of Greece. The consignment was never completed. The helmets were delivered without liner and without paint. The Greek liner must show a Greek cross surmounted by a crown and the size of the helmet (57 in this case) and the words’Greek Army’ in Greek alphabet. This helmet has a very smooth and complete original liner. The bowl is finished in the original paint. A beautiful helmet that belongs in every serious helmet collection. These KNIL-helmets were manufactured (post-1941, pre-1945) in USA (Milwaukee Saddlery Company, Milsco) after the occupation of Holland by the Germans and was used against the Japanese in 1941. The helmet had been in use post-WW2 by the civil defense in the Netherlands. It still has its original KNIL liner, but one leather pad was replaced by a Dutch M27/38 type. The other 2 pads are missing the pouches to be filled for size adjustment. The chin strap is the M27/38 type (the KNIL chin strap was broader). So far all is original, the restoration consisted of adding a sun protection, refinishing in the original color, and refitting the original liner with new rivets. No Marks or signs. Original complete Belgian M31 Adrian helmet in good condition. This Belgian M31 is not the same model as the French Adrian M26 helmet!! It is more conical in shape. These models were also used by Belgian army against the Germans in may-june 1940 (in green with lion head badge). The black paint and the liner are in very good condition. On the badge the slogan’Impavidum Ferient Ruinae’ = The ruins will hit the intrepid (when the whole world creaks collapsed), that is, people of principle are still found. Deze modellen werden in mei-juni 1940 ook door het Belgische leger tegen de Duitsers gebruikt (in het groen met leeuwenkopinsigne). De zwarte lak en de liner zijn in zeer goede staat. Op de badge staat de slogan’Impavidum Ferient Ruinae’ = De ruïnes zullen de onversaagde raken (wanneer de hele wereld kraakt), dat wil zeggen dat er nog steeds mensen van principe worden gevonden. Dieser belgische M31 ist nicht das gleiche Modell wie der französische Adrian M26 Helm!! Es ist konischer in der Form. Diese Modelle wurden im Mai-Juni 1940 auch von der belgischen Armee gegen die Deutschen eingesetzt (in Grün mit Löwenkopfabzeichen). Die schwarze Farbe und der Liner sind in sehr gutem Zustand. Auf dem Abzeichen steht der Slogan’Impavidum Ferient Ruinae’ = Die Ruinen treffen die Unerschrockenen (wenn die ganze Welt zusammenbricht), das heißt, es werden immer noch Menschen mit Prinzipien gefunden.
