These KNIL-helmets were manufactured (post-1941, pre-1945) in USA (Milwaukee Saddlery Company, Milsco) after the occupation of Holland by the Germans and was used against the Japanese in 1941. The helmet had been in use post-WW2 by the civil defense in the Netherlands. It still has its original KNIL liner, but one leather pad was replaced by a Dutch M27/38 type. The other 2 pads are missing the pouches to be filled for size adjustment. The chin strap is the M27/38 type (the KNIL chin strap was broader). So far all is original, the restoration consisted of adding a sun protection, refinishing in the original color, and refitting the original liner with new rivets. No Marks or signs. Dieser Helm wurde aus dem holländischen M27 entwickelt. Diese KNIL-Helme wurden (nach 1941, vor 1945) in den USA (Milwaukee Saddlery Company, Milsco) nach der Besetzung Hollands durch die Deutschen hergestellt und 1941 gegen die Japaner eingesetzt. Der Helm wurde nach dem 2. Weltkrieg vom Zivilschutz in den Niederlanden verwendet. Es hat immer noch seinen originalen KNIL-Liner, aber ein Lederpolster wurde durch ein niederländisches M27/38-Typ ersetzt. Bei den anderen 2 Binden fehlen die zu befüllenden Beutel zur Größenanpassung. Der Kinnriemen ist vom Typ M27/38 (der KNIL-Kinnriemen war breiter). Bisher ist alles original, die Restaurierung bestand aus dem Anbringen eines Sonnenschutzes, der Neulackierung in der Originalfarbe und dem erneuten Anbringen der Originalverkleidung mit neuen Nieten. Il a toujours sa doublure KNIL d’origine, mais un coussin en cuir a été remplacé par un type hollandais M27/38. Il manque aux 2 autres coussinets les pochettes à remplir pour ajuster la taille. La mentonnière est du type M27/38 (la mentonnière KNIL était plus large). Pour l’instant tout est d’origine, la restauration a consisté à rajouter une protection solaire, revernir dans la couleur d’origine, et remettre le liner d’origine avec de nouveaux rivets.
