A great find, these are complete and fully functional, with a steel frame to support a large amount of weight, and thick, full grain rugged leather shell over a canvas padded lining. All canvas and leather tie down strapping included, as well as the belly band and attachment straps. The side frames and top frame are removable. Awarded to St Sierzant Jan Bartos on May 17th 1921 who was attached to the 9th Pilsudski Legion Infantry Regiment. It was awarded for the Polish Soviet War one of the greatest historical battles which changed world history resulted in the 2nd greatest Polish military victory after the Battle of Grunwald. Sgt Bartos was one of the first to be decorated with the re-instituted VM. Very rare original, 1st type VM. Mounted on an new replacement ribbon.
