Original Spanish Civil War Campaign Nationalist Medal 9K Gold British Made. The black ribbon color on the sides indicates this one was awarded for to a combatant. This is where if gets interesting. The medal is a jeweler made version in 375 gold (9Kt – which is typical for British gold items) and is marked as such along with the English marks for assay Chester and V letter code for 1946. It is also named to EL LEGIONARIO SJ BROWN 1902977. Obviously an Anglicized inscription. Not sure if the number is a British service number or some ID from time in the Nationalist ranks. It is also marked PK for the maker (maker name unidentified). When I acquired it several years back I found an article online that had some summary details of an SJ Brown who fought in the Spanish Civil War for Franco, in the British Army during WWII, and then was a Dutch Merchant Marines into the 1950s. That is the extent of what I have been able to research. The medal is 33mm across by 3mm thick, and appears to be cast from an original. The two hanger rings are also made in 9K (375) gold. The gold purity has been tested. Ribbon appears to be a later addition. Medal weighs 34.0 grams, which is 12.75 grams of pure gold. See my other auctions with military and other items! Please feel free to ask any questions. We strive to satisfy our customers.

ORIGINAL 1930’S UNITED STATES NAVAL AVIATOR WINGS INSIGNIA, 2-3/4 INCH SIZE BADGE, PIN-BACK. A naval aviator is a commissioned officer or warrant officer qualified as a crewed aircraft pilot in the United States Navy or United States Marine Corps. United States Coast Guard crewed aircraft pilots are officially designated as “Coast Guard aviators”, although they complete the same undergraduate flight training as Navy and Marine Corps crewed aircraft pilots, and are awarded the same aviation breast insignia. Exceptionally rare 1920s or 30s hand made Gold Bullion on Olive drab with leather back uniform removed insignia grouping. These gold bullion insignia date to the 1920s or 30s inter war period though could have been used war period… They exhibit a lot of use and wear but have a great patina.. Included are a paid of LT Col / pair of US & a pair of Artillery bullions… Original period used examples of these are rare as hens teeth as they were very sucpetible to moth damage. The army at the time these used was much smaller so in general a lot less were made! These are hard to upgrade.. Period used examples are much hard to find then NOS examples that were un cut. There is a part of me based on construction that thinks these might date to the WW1 era but im unsure if you know please let me know! A stunningly rare set! Check out all my other militaria!

From the well documented collection of author and publisher James Phillips shown in numerous publications. Will be listing over 250 hard to find and rare emblems.

This is a small lapel type pin, the quarter is shown for scale. My scale keeps switching between 1.7 and 1.8 dwt, so figure it at 1.75dwt. This pin was found in an Springfield, NH estate, with many photos and paper belonging to Brigadier General, Lee S. I do not believe that General Gerow went to USMA, so perhaps it was another family member. The pin is in very good condition, with wear commensurate with age. The photos are an integral part of my description. They will give an accurate representation, and best tell the story. If you require a specific carrier, please inform me before I send an invoice.
