Rare Original Photo German AVIATORS PILOTS HANDSOME! Luftstreitkräfte Imperial German Air Service Leather PILOTS Coats. German Luftwaffe Early Aviation War History. II was an unarmed German two-seat reconnaissance biplane of the First World War. Designed by Ernst Heinkel based on his 1913 Albatros B. First flying in 1914, large numbers of the B. II were built and, though it was relegated from front-line service in 1915 following the introduction of the armed C-type two-seaters, the B. II remained in service as a trainer until 1918 and was still operated by the Swedish Air Force in 1919 and by the Polish Air Force during Polish-Soviet war in 1920. II had a shorter wingspan than the B. I and used a variety of engines up to 120 hp (89 kW). In 1914 it set an altitude record of 4,500 m (14,765 ft). The seating arrangement was not ideal; the pilot occupied the rear cockpit and the observer sat in front over the wings which greatly reduced his downward view while the protruding engine block almost completely obscured the view over the nose. When Albatros developed the armed C. I based on their B-series, the seat positions were swapped so that the observer/gunner had a better view and clear field of fire.

ORIGINAL & VERY GOOD Condition 1930’s Air Corps Silver Bullion Pilot’s Wings. These are an ORIGINAL BULLION thread silver wings or qualification badge awarded to Air Corps pilots upon their graduation from their flight training during the 1930’s. The wings are in VERY GOOD overall condition, with minor signs of tarnishing, and show no indications of having been previously sewn on a pilot’s blouse. Here’s a chance for the aviation collector or re-enactor to obtain a great pair of bullion wings for the collection or restoration of a whipcord blouse of the period for little more than I paid 30 years ago. PLEASE NOTE: The insignia will be mailed in a first class No. I’m a militaria collector like you and I do this as a sideline to my own collecting. Nonetheless, I’ll handle your order in a business-like and professional manner. Thanks for your business! 1920-30’s Airship Pilot’s wing marked Sterling, full size, pin back, no maker’s mark. This is the traditional design authorized by regulation and a copy of the design authorized by the Government when they created the “From Official Die” concept in the mid 20’s. I believe this is a Bailey, Banks & Biddle wing-for certain it’s their pattern. Don’t let this one slip by! It’s a good deal at this price.
