Please ask before you pay. Size ca 57 cm. For sale is an absolute fine example of the Greek M34-39 steel combat helmet. This Italian made type of helmet was ordered by the Greek government shortly before the Italian invasion of Greece. The consignment was never completed. The helmets were delivered without liner and without paint. The Greek liner must show a Greek cross surmounted by a crown and the size of the helmet (57 in this case) and the words’Greek Army’ in Greek alphabet. This helmet has a very smooth and complete original liner. The bowl is finished in the original paint. A beautiful helmet that belongs in every serious helmet collection. La fodera greca deve mostrare una croce greca sormontata da una corona e la taglia dell’elmo (57 in questo caso) e le parole “Esercito greco” in alfabeto greco. VINTAGE WORLD WAR 1 BRASS US ARMY “DOUGHBOY” PARADE HELMET W/ ORIGINAL STRAP & LINER. Wear consistent with age and use. Topside with distressed finish from water and age. Inside underside rim has distressed finish as well – tarnish and green corrosion action on brass. Strap leather with no tears and leather head banding is in great shape as well. These KNIL-helmets were manufactured (post-1941, pre-1945) in USA (Milwaukee Saddlery Company, Milsco) after the occupation of Holland by the Germans and was used against the Japanese in 1941. The helmet had been in use post-WW2 by the civil defense in the Netherlands. It still has its original KNIL liner, but one leather pad was replaced by a Dutch M27/38 type. The other 2 pads are missing the pouches to be filled for size adjustment. The chin strap is the M27/38 type (the KNIL chin strap was broader). So far all is original, the restoration consisted of adding a sun protection, refinishing in the original color, and refitting the original liner with new rivets. No Marks or signs.
