Please read the entire description and review all photos carefully! Up for sale is the pictured United States Corps of Engineers mobile draft set including wood sketch board model 1913 produced by Burke & James Inc. Eastman Kodak Co tripod and mount, Smith & Wesson clinometer, Superior Magneto Corp. Compass, and two folders of blank drafting sketch sheets all in a metal latching briefcase produced by the McFarlan Motor Co circa 1918. The latching case is in rough condition with various dents and rusting to the exterior, but the leather handle is intact. The interior folding tray and leather grip are in good working order and there is a molded wood storage compartment for various components beneath it. The sketch board has a short and shallow crack near the bottom and its bottom face is partially discolored as shown in the later photos. Its compass is missing one screw that has exposed it to the elements, however the locking mechanism still works. Similarly, while both clinometer and compass appear to work, their interiors have been exposed to the elements over time. The compass in particular has a moisture stain and collection of fine silt under its bubble. The entire tripod assembly is present and functioning with the exception of one folding leg that has cleanly broken off at the hinge (shown in photos). Original Laboratory Barometer in a Wood case with the original letter (and a carbon copy) certificate of permision for a US Colonel to take it. I don’t know if it works or not. The Japanese Label on the Barometer translates. Showa 17, February –Ã Showa era 17= 1942. A similar barometer was seized from the desk of Vice Admiral Michitaro Totsuka by Marines during their occupation of Yokosuka, Japan. It was then presented to Major General Lemuel C. And is now in the Headquarters Artifact Collection, Naval History and Heritage Command. The contents of the letter are. 5250 Technical Intelligence Composit Company. Office of Assistant Chief of Staff, G-2. United States Forces, Western Pacific. The letter certificate states. ORIGINAL, RARE & MINT Zippered TSMG Carrying Case For Half Tracks & Tanks. The tag on the twine securing the Kraft paper wrapper for the case states that it was “G147 Half Track Spare Parts” with the stamped nomenclature. The case is in beautiful UNISSUED condition, just as I bought it 31 years ago! The case has three female “durable Dot” snaps on leather “hinges” for attachment to the male snaps inside the half track’s armored sides. It has a full-length zippered compartment for the TSMG. The zipper is of the “heavy duty” type and is completely functional. The canvas material is in MINT original condition without any blemishes, dry rot or any other defects. It still has that great “surplus store” odor in the canvas that I remember from my youth! This is an excellent opportunity for the advanced half track owner or TSMG collector to obtain an increasingly rare piece of gear in MINT condition for the half track or his collection.
