1938 Imperial Japanese China Incident Pictorial No. 20 Yellow River & Tsinpu
Original 1938 China Incident Pictorial Report No. 20, published on March 1, 1938 (Showa 13) by the Osaka Mainichi Shimbun and Tokyo Nichi Nichi Shimbun joint war correspondents. This rare wartime photo magazine covers the Yellow River Crossing Operation and the Tsinpu Railway Campaign, key offensives during Japan’s southward advance from North China into Central China in early 1938. It documents the Japanese Army’s strategy to cut off Nationalist China’s supply lines between North and Central China following the Marco Polo Bridge Incident. Construction of pontoon bridges and river-crossing scenes of the Yellow River (Daiko-gawa). Infantry and cavalry advancing along the Tsinpu Railway Line. Street battles and occupation of major cities in Shandong and Jiangsu provinces. Local civilians, prisoners, and post-battle urban recovery scenes. Military hospitals, engineering units, and morale photos from the front. Publisher: Osaka Mainichi Shimbun / Tokyo Nichi Nichi Shimbun. Date: March 1, 1938 (Showa 13). Pages: 32 / Format: B4 approx. 36 × 25 cm. Price at release: 20 Sen. Printed by: Paper Printing Co. For the Ministry of Finance. The China Incident Pictorial series was Japan’s official war photo journalism during the early Sino-Japanese War. This issue captures a turning point in the campaign – the massive Yellow River crossing and Tsinpu advance that marked Japan’s strategic expansion deep into China. Highly valuable as a primary source of wartime photo documentation and propaganda media study. Condition: Poor to fair. Spine detached and taped, tears and stains, but complete. Still a rare and important historical document. Own a Piece of History. International Buyers – Please Note. Thank you for your understanding.

WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy Admiral Eisuke Yamamoto Non-Sale Book 1937 Photo
Original pre-war biography booklet: “Admiral Eisuke Yamamoto and His Illustrious Parents”. Richly photo-illustrated (family portraits, youth scenes, group photos with cadets/soldiers). Early champion of naval aviation; first Chief of the Naval Aviation Bureau (1927), later Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet (1929-31); promoted full Admiral in 1931. In 1936, amid the February 26 Incident turmoil, he was moved to the reserve due to political headwinds. Background corroborated by Kagoshima city history notes and standard references. Printed 10 July 1937, issued 15 July 1937 (colophon). Early Sino-Japanese War phase: youth-oriented patriotic publishing grew rapidly in this year. Issued in Tokyo by the Imperial Youth Moral Education League. Non-sale distribution? Given to selected circles; survival rate is low. Documents the Satsuma lineage of a senior admiral and the social world that produced him. Useful to researchers of pre-war propaganda, naval aviation origins, and Combined Fleet leadership. A page headed “Imperial Audience ” lists multiple imperial princes-evidence of the prestige network around the book. 23 cm, 118 pp. Typical aging: toning, foxing, light edge wear; plates clear (see photos). Non-sale notice on title. This is not Isoroku Yamamoto; it’s Admiral Eisuke Yamamoto, a different figure from Kagoshima, key to Japan’s interwar naval policy and aviation build-up-scarcer in English-language collections, hence strong interest. Own a Piece of History. International Buyers – Please Note. Thank you for your understanding.

The rim of the cup is engraved with: Silver Cup – Commemoration of the 1931 Incident – Japanese Residents’ Association in Tianjin. The “Incident” of Showa 6 (1931) refers to the Manchurian Incident, a turning point in world history. 1?? What is it? This is a silver ceremonial sake cup, produced by the Japanese Residents’ Association in Tianjin, China, to commemorate the outbreak of the Manchurian Incident. Comes with its paulownia wood presentation box. A rare artifact reflecting its era. On September 18, 1931, the Mukden (Liutiaohu) Incident triggered the full-scale occupation of Manchuria by the Kwantung Army. At a time when the world was shaken by the Great Depression, Japan sought resources and territorial expansion on the Asian continent. The inscription mentions Tianjin, which at the time was home to a Japanese settlement. Many Japanese nationals lived there, making it a center for commerce and diplomacy. The residents there commissioned this cup to celebrate and remember Japan’s military success. It was created and distributed by the Japanese Residents’ Association of Tianjin, a self-governing body of Japanese expatriates. This organization supported the lives of the Japanese community abroad while aligning with Japan’s national policies. In Japanese culture, the sake cup (sakazuki) has never been just a drinking vessel. Samurai pledging brotherhood and loyalty. Prayers for victory and prosperity. Commemoration of great events and milestones. Thus, this silver cup is not a mere souvenir. It is a symbol of solidarity, representing how the Japanese residents in Tianjin aligned themselves with Japan’s military actions and engraved their role in history. It was most likely financed through contributions from the residents’ association, with production numbers being very limited. Due to wartime destruction and the postwar chaos, very few of these survive today. Items directly tied to the Manchurian Incident are especially valuable as historical artifacts. This silver commemorative cup was made by Japanese expatriates in Tianjin to mark the beginning of the Manchurian Incident in 1931. It embodies early Showa-era international relations, the presence of Japanese overseas communities, and the cultural symbolism of the sake cup in Japan. In other words, it is a piece of history you can hold in your hands. A valuable addition to historical collections. A primary source for research on the Manchurian Incident or early Showa foreign policy. A cultural symbol of the Japanese relationship with the sake cup. Approximate 7-21days(To USA).

1930 Imperial Japanese Army Children's Picture Book Our Army Waga Rikugun
1930 Japanese Militarist Children’s Picture Book. “Our Army”/”Waga Rikugun”. Vibrant and richly illustrated large-format children’s book celebrating the Imperial Japanese Army, published during the early Showa era. The full-color lithographic illustrations depict tanks, cavalry, artillery, infantry maneuvers, military vehicles, battlefield scenes, and army medals in a strikingly stylized form typical of prewar nationalist juvenile publishing. A clear example of soft propaganda. Includes double-page spreads of motorbike gunners, paratroopers, amphibious operations, and decoration medals-blending 1930 era technology with patriotic fervor. Hiragana phonetic guides indicate it was designed for young readers. Rear cover illustration features a child soldier atop a St. Bernard, in a humorous but ideologically loaded close to the volume. Publisher mark and dating appear to confirm production in 1930 (Showa 5). Printed in Japan stamp present. Unpaginated but complete, with side stapled binding. In very good condition for age with only modest edge wear, light rust to binding staples, and partial split to the covers at the spine fold. Usual light toning to pages. 10.25 x 7.25 inches.
