This is a extremely rare, Imperial Japanese Navy – Course Altering or Compass Vector Bombsight. This Type 2, Kai-3 was manufactured by the Tokyo Keiki Mfg Co Ltd in 1932 as Japan was building up its naval power. This is the only know existing example of this model bombsight. This bombsight would have been mounted to the outside of the aircraft for the pilot or bombardier to adjust the heading and speed of the aircraft in order to target ships or ground objectives. It was used low and slow for best accuracy. The bombsight is all original and complete in the wood cases with matching serial numbers. It includes the wood case, compass bombsight, magnetic rods, targeting rod with cross-hair, some tools, a leather strap, and the Test Report. The bombsight itself in excellent operating and cosmetic condition. At some point the compass glass was cracked, but the compass still operates. The paperwork attached to the inside of the case will come with a full translation. This was probably brought to the US by a serviceman as a souvenir at the end of the war. IMPERIAL RUSSIA ORDER OF ST. STANISLAUS, COMMANDER, (St Stanislaw) 2nd class , GOLD medal, cross, makers hallmarks on suspension ring and reverse, superb enamels, very rare 2nd class. Established first by the Kingdom of Poland. After the Partition by the three world powers in 1795, the Czar nationalized it as a Russia Order of the White Eagle as well as The Order of the Virtuti Militiari in 1831. St Stanislaw is the national saint of Poland. His body is entombed in a silver casket on top of the alter at the Wawel Castle Cathedral in Krakow. A most beautiful work of art. The Russians gave out thousands of the civilian version of this order and they are available on the market for its gold content, however the Polish version has not been seen for sale for over fifty years in any class. Please also note that this military version is very rare because it was awarded for distinguished military service and NOT for making a donation to a charitable organization as per the civilian version without swords.
