Beautiful Pickelhaube helmet of a cavalry officer of the Chilean army, The Republic of Chile was the first country in South America to introduce the Prussian doctrine, the leather of the helmet was in poor condition, so it was restored by a professional saddlery. The helmet corresponds to those used by cavalry officers in the 20s until 1927 exactly. This helmet is a golden opportunity for the pickelhaube collectors of the world, the future owner can polish the leather to give it the vintage shine. Importantly, The plate and spike and chin scales are original. The stars, spine, visor trim and cockade are hight quality reproductions. DO NOT LET THIS CHANCE GO AWAY.
This is undoubtedly the rarest military photo I have ever owned. Ultra Rare Yard Long Official Photo WW1 USS Georgia w Crew US Navy by JC Crosby. He moved to Norfolk, Va. In the later part of 1920. A list of known Navy photographs he produced is listed in Naval Historical Center Homepage online Library. This one is not listed and may be the only one known to exist. The frame measures approximately 44-1/4 x 10-1/4. The previous owner had it professionally framed with a new dust cover installed. I cut back about a quarter of the dust cover to view a portion of the print itself. I guarantee it to be old and original. There are a few condition issues that are common to photographs of this age. Please scan with the zoom tool to examine it for yourself. The backer board is white so the upper left corner and the few small white spots are holes in the photo. This is a extremely rare, Imperial Japanese Navy – Course Altering or Compass Vector Bombsight. This Type 2, Kai-3 was manufactured by the Tokyo Keiki Mfg Co Ltd in 1932 as Japan was building up its naval power. This is the only know existing example of this model bombsight. This bombsight would have been mounted to the outside of the aircraft for the pilot or bombardier to adjust the heading and speed of the aircraft in order to target ships or ground objectives. It was used low and slow for best accuracy. The bombsight is all original and complete in the wood cases with matching serial numbers. It includes the wood case, compass bombsight, magnetic rods, targeting rod with cross-hair, some tools, a leather strap, and the Test Report. The bombsight itself in excellent operating and cosmetic condition. At some point the compass glass was cracked, but the compass still operates. The paperwork attached to the inside of the case will come with a full translation. This was probably brought to the US by a serviceman as a souvenir at the end of the war. ONE OF A KIND. Ultra rare military artillery periscope. This is the rarest and tallest field periscope ever made by Carl Zeiss. Only periscope, excluding tripod and goniometer, has a height of 1.15 meters and it can be extended to an height of 1.86 meters (when extended). There are usual Carl Zeiss models as manual monocular periscopes (to be used with no tripods), the trench binoculares (called donkey hears) or the binocular periscope made during the cold war and used in the Berlin wall. But this one is really impossible to find and, with to doubts, the rarest artillery periscope made by Carl Zeiss. Only periscope, excluding tripod and goniometer, weight more or less 30 lbs. You can see extended tripod in the first picture. 10 X 40 lenses. This amazing apparatus has two handles to move it horizontally, and you can move it vertically turning same handles (as a motorcycle). It has two reels in handles with a strap to move mirror on top vertically (all working). So it is incredible practical and simple. It has It has been made during 1920 s´ (Nedinsco era) and it has the serial number 991. This impressive device has been made for the argentinian army (number 22). Periscope has been oiled and l. Enses, prisma and mirror are in perfect condition so this instrument is completely operative. It has a goniometer and tripod. It has been cleaned but not restored to. Preserve its original antique condition. So it shows signals of use and patina according its age (see detailed pictures). Tripod with extended legs and goniometer have an height of 1.68 meters so complete instrument can reach more than 3.5 meters!!! Tube diameter is 65 millimeters. History: The 102nd Observation Squadron organized on March 22, 1921 under the command of Maj. Littauer as the 102nd Squadron, 27th Division Air service, New York National Guard. The unit was redesigned the 102nd Observation Squadron on January 23, 1923. This squadron can trace its history back to a group formed by aviation enthusiasts in the NY National Guard in April 1908. They became the 1st Aero Company on November 1,1915 and became the first National Guard unit in aviation and to be pressed into federal service on July 13, 1916 for use in the Mexican Punitive Expedition. When the United States entered World War I, all National Guard aviation units were dissolved. New York’s 1st Aero Company was no different and it was disbanded on May 23, 1917. The founder of the unit, Captain Raynall Cawthorne Bolling and almost all of the members of the unit left the National Guard to join the Army Signal Corps Reserve and in May 1917 founded the 1st Aero Reserve squadron. That unit was sent to France in August 1917 and designated 26th Aero Squadron. Its personnel and aircraft formed the basis for an aviation school and maintenance unit. After the war, a group of veteran pilots initiated the formation of an Aero Club, which became the 102nd.
