For your consideration this listing is for a possibly unique, original surviving badge from the U. Navy S/M (standard missile)? Base, Pearl Harbor, T. This treasure is made of some type of metal due. The center of the badge features two stylized dolphins flanking each side of a large military vessel. It is raised from the base of the metal and tests positive for sterling silver. We’ve owned the badge app 30 years. For the last 2 or 3 years, we’ve tried looking up this badge to see if any others exist and value but have come up empty handed. We’d be appreciative if anyone else has any further information on it. We believe the badge is most likely from the mid 30’s or perhaps a little earlier based on the dolphin motif. The front of the album itself has a photo of the USS Pennsylvania- Flagship of the US Fleet- in it. In the beginning are the signatures addresses and comments from 41 of his fellow sailors. He has filled out 7 pages of the log/ diary that follow the signature pages. The photos are all original snapshot photos with some exceptions here and there (some are real photo postcards, etc)- the majority are original snapshots. I counted just over 140 photos. They are all held in place with corner tabs so theyre not glued in at all. US fleet anchored in Panama, Several of Panama City/ Old Panama, Refueling Destroyer #340, Pennsy in Battle Maneuvers, Sailors swimming in the bay, Beer for all! Sailors/ soldiers on parade/ landing force, May 1934 in New York City (Parade up 5th Ave, Battle Force entering the Hudson River, some buildings including the Empire State Building). Shells laid out on deck, guns firing at night, Boxing match on board, etc etc. The album itself has some wear but is in pretty nice shape yet. The photos are excellent. There are some that are in here loose and might not be on the correct pages, and there are some here and there that seem to be missing but not many. Fantastic piece of history from one of the US Navy’s legendary battleships! This is a rare US Navy grouping for a man who was stationed on the USS NARWHAL at Pearl Harbor on Dec. See pictures 10 and 11. The group consists of his frock coat, evening dress coat, trousers with braid, and his Midshipman tunic. All are in very nice condition with only one button missing from the tunic. The fore and aft hat, epaulettes, and gold belt are in a tin box with his initials painted on top. All are in excellent condition except for the box. It is dented with paint missing and the lock is off but included. The sword is in fine condition with the scabbard showing only very minor flaking. The leather case is in good condition but is missing part of the strap to buckle it closed and some mild mothing to the liner. Scabbard is engraved with his initials and the leather case also has his initials. Interestingly his last name is misspelled on the blade, an “A” is missing. Also included is his 1931 Academy yearbook, silver anniversary yearbook, and thirty first anniversary yearbook. The papers that are included are all copies except his retirement paper. Also included is a second sword belt, a medal and a comb with missing teeth in a leather pouch which also has a rusting file. I think this is the highlight of the whole group. The USS Narwhal is credited with shooting down a Japanese Zero (along with a destroyer) which is the first submarine kill of the war. This group is from the officer who claims he shot it down. This is a rare Pearl Harbor AND submarine related group. I just noticed that in the picture of the yearbooks there is a small book titled The Silver Quiver, it does not go with this group. The crate has been in my attic for over 25 years and is under a large pile of stuff. No sense in digging it out until or if the group sells. The price listed may be lower if you live on the East Coast. It will take me a few days to dig out the crate and pack everything safely so please be patient.
