This is for a Jan. 9, 1929 United States Coast Guard Honorable Discharge. It is in a frame. It was not removed from the frame. First Class Charles F. United States Coast Guard Cutter Modoc WPG-46. It is in good used collectible condition. Certificate is yellowed and stained due to its age and/or storage. The frame measures approx. 12″ x 10″ x 3/4.

Very Rare Original ORDER of CHARLES III, Commander of Number Star, 1771. The order was instituted in 1771. Breast Star, 67 x 64 mm, silver with brilliant cut rays, partially repierced, partially enameled, central medallion silver and GOLD, enameled, reverse with vertical thin pin. Vintage & Original Military Medal – (Between the World Wars). Order of Charles IV – Merit Medal for Defense. This is the quite scarce golden version for defense of the homeland. Note the reverse – it is different from other types of this medal. This was issued between the wars, particularly as WW II approached, recipients were recognized for defending the republic. Gold-edged red enamel Maltese cross with gold-edged white enamel panels on each arm, with ball-tipped gold finials, with gold and red and green enamel wreath between the arms, on gold crown suspension with red and green enamel jewels; the face with a deep red enamel circular central medallion bearing the crowned cipher of Prince Charles III, founder of the Order within a white enamel ring inscribed in silver letters PRINCEPS ET PATRIA (Latin = Prince and Country); the reverse with a circular central medallion bearing the gold-edged red and white enamel lozenges of the arms of the Grimaldi family, rulers of Monaco, within a white enamel ring inscribed in gilt letters DEO JUVANTE (Latin = With Gods help); small chips to the red enamel of some of the points, a small hairline crack and minute chip to the white enamel of the ring of the reverse and a small loss of white enamel below the letter E in DEO (see illustrations); on original ribbon with rosette denoting an award of the officer class. The Order was founded by Prince Charles III on 15 March 1858 to be awarded for meritorious service to the prince and state of Monaco. CONDITION: Has some enamel chips.
