Austrian Republic Army Mess Kit dated 1937. Exactly the same as Austro-Hungarian Army M1899 mess kits, though this one bears Austrian acceptance stamps of the Republic’s double-headed eagle, HBA, and 1937-the year before Germany’s Anschluss with Austria. An interesting historical piece transitioning Austro-Hungary with Nazi Germany. Good very good condition, with slight corrosion (photo 6) on bottom edge of pail. Military Training Camps Association of the United States. The training camp movement: voluntary military training for the purpose of good citizenship and national defense goes back in the memory of the present generation to the camps which were organized in the United States just prior to the world war. In 1913 under the direction of Major General Leonard wood to vacation camps were held for students from educational institutions, one at Monterey California, and the other at Gettysburg Pennsylvania, the men paying their own expenses. Four camps were held the following year. Contains camp history and photos, company rosters and photos, activity/training photos. RCAMC Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps Officer’s Mess Uniform – Pre World War 2 – VERY RARE. This Officer’s Mess Uniform was tailored in January, 1934 for Dr. RC Montgomery of Toronto, then serving as a Captain in the pre-war Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. He went on to serve as a senior Officer in England in the Canadian General Hospital unit during the war, treating both Allied soldiers, civilians, and more than a few German POWs. Tailored by Sainthill-Levine & Co. In Toronto, the uniform is wool and satin with cotton lining in the tunic and trousers. Black with burgundy elements — lapels, epaulettes, lapels, vest, etc. – it is a historical artifact of a bygone era. It is in beautiful condition and very rare. Rare China Marine Mess Sergeant’s Tunic – ID’d, circa 1930’s. This tunic is from a grouping of Thomas’s other uniforms, in another collection that is currently not for sale. This is how we have been able to identify this item to Sgt. Thomas, as this item is not individually marked itself. Overall in nice condition, with no areas of mothing and discoloration. One the back of the right sleeve, along the seam, there is a black substance that has stained approx. A 7 long section along the sleeve. There is wear throughout due to use by Thomas. On both sleeves the Mess Sergeant Rank is machine sewn on. Very nice Eagle, Globe and Anchors on both lapels with wear, toning and patina on both. Coat, shoulder and pocket buttons are have similar wear and scuffing with tight stitching on all. The only marking inside the tunic is the number “590” in the center near the collar. O’Neill, USNA, dated 1927, is. An Original, Vintage example and Rare to Find. This includes the coat/jacket/tunic and Button-Fly pants/trousers. Marked Size, but the jacket actually measures approx. 19″ from armpit to armpit and 21″ from top to bottom, with 32″ x 30″ pants.
