This is a nice example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a hand-forged blade which wears a cutting edge that measures 26 3/4 inches in length. The blade remains healthy with some minor surface blemishes and a few tiny nicks to the cutting edge, nevertheless is in nice condition and boasts a lovely large straight temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The well signed tang wears two characters which translate to ” MASAYASU “. The hilt and all the fittings remain nice. The green lacquered scabbard remains nice as well with just some minor scuffs. Genuine Named Post WW1 Navy Good Conduct Medal NR. This is a genuine, 1928 vintage, US Navy Good Conduct medal. It was issued to Harry Chas. Spencer, on June 12, 1928. He served on the USS Pittsburgh. Ribbon and medal are in excellent condition. The ribbon is free of stains, rips or tears. The medal has no dings or dents and shows realatively little wear. This Good Conduct medal would go well in a collection, or for an inter-war era uniform restoration. Please do not pay until you receive an invoice. 1920 US Volunteer Life Saving Corps (USVLSC) Sterling Medal. ARTIFACT: This is a named circa 1920’s life-saving medal for the United States Volunteer Life Saving Corps (USVLSC) auxiliary in sterling silver. The USVLSC existed in fifteen states where there were no federally-run life-saving stations and acted to supplement the U. The medal was presented to Harold. Kitschell at Sheepshead Bay, New York on August 15, 1920 for saving someone from drowning. The medal is in three parts, with an eagle atop Kitschell’s name, a lifeboat hanging below that and a life preserver, anchor and oars as the bottom-most medallion. VINTAGE: Circa 1920’s. SIZE: Approximately 3-1/2″ in height and 1-3/16″ in width. ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with tongue-style catch, chain links. This is a very nice example of an important Presentation Grade U. This sword belonged to Brigadier General Charles Yawkey Banfill, born in 1897 and died in 1966. This Sword, at the time Banfill was a Captain, was presented to him by the Enlisted Men of the 29th Div. Aviation in Appreciation of Thoughtful Consideration as inscribed upon the scabbard throat. It is mounted with a wonderfully etched blade that measures 32 1/8 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition with all the beautiful etching and bright gold still present on either side. The blade is also etched Capt. Inside a panel on one side. It wears a multi-branched guard with an eaglehead pommel that is intricately detailed that remains in very nice condition as well. The composite hilt is a bit faded with age, nevertheless does remains tight and sturdy. The plated metal scabbard wears beautiful coordinating fittings with the presentation inscription on the backside of the top fitting and overall the scabbard also remains nice and in very good serviceable condition.
