A rare pre-WWII military reference book used by Imperial Japanese Army officers and language trainees. Includes extensive terminology covering infantry, cavalry, artillery, uniforms, equipment, signals, naval terms, and more. The Imperial Precepts to Soldiers and Sailors. London Naval Treaty of 1930 (full Japanese translation). Army-Navy-Air Force relative ranks. Japanese and American decorations & medals. Weights and measures tables. These appear to be of Central European manufacture (most likely Germany, but not certain), likely made for civilian or general field use. They are solidly constructed with brass components, black textured barrels, and original stamped markings. Both eyepieces rotate smoothly. When properly focused, the image is clear, sharp, and single. No double vision observed. No obvious haze, clouding, or separation noted during use. Optics have not been professionally serviced; evaluation is based on careful visual inspection and use. Vintage condition consistent with age and normal use. Original patina present throughout. A previously active area of green verdigris on the brass plate has been carefully stabilized and removed without polishing or refinishing. No aggressive cleaning performed; original character preserved. All stamped markings remain crisp and legible. Boxed emblem and inspection marking present (see photos). Includes the original leather carrying case with strap. Includes original leather strap on binoculars, as well. Leather shows expected age-related wear. All stitching intact; no loose or hanging threads. Case and straps remain fully usable. Interior of case is clean. These binoculars are best described as inter-war European field binoculars. This is an original Japanese Navy crew group photograph taken in 1936 (Showa 11) aboard the light cruiser Oi. The banner visible at the top of the photograph clearly reads. This type of large-scale group photograph was typically taken during active service periods, not for individual souvenirs, making it a rare and historically meaningful image. The Oi was a Japanese light cruiser commissioned in the early 1920s. Later in her career, the Oi was modified for high-speed operations and escort missions. She was eventually sunk in 1944 after being hit by a submarine torpedo while on duty in southern waters. This photograph captures the Japanese Navy just before World War II, during a transitional period between peacetime and full wartime mobilization. Show the entire crew. Were taken onboard the vessel. Are increasingly scarce and valued by collectors of naval history, maritime photography, and pre-war Japanese ephemera. There are visible signs of age, including creases, edge wear, and small tears.
