Pershing panoramic photo 28th Div Mt. Gretna PA Camp Anderson. Rare, original panoramic of the 28th Division troop review by General Pershing, that occurred on July 16, 1923 at Camp Anderson, Mt. This was a huge event in Lebanon County. This very large panoramic measures approx 50-1/4 x 8. According to the details in the lower left, this involved the 55th Brigade Infantry, the 52nd Brigade Cavalry, and special troops. All part of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Also noted in the lower right is the photographer’s mark of “Harpel” of Lebanon PA. As you can see in the photo, there is a lot of activity. Only guessing, but General Pershing may be the one on the horse with his head down, closest to the left border. Great background scenery including the 18 trucks, and even crowds with parked vehicles viewing this spectacle. As for the condition, the photo has been neatly folded in half, with several tape repairs on the reverse. This is some discoloration on the front, more tape repairs, some little border tears, and a corner missing. This all sounds worrisome, but the overall subject is not really affected. We believe this would be very appealing in a large frame. I have mixed photographs and scans of the panoramic just to see what turned out better for this description. Please review them below. I have also added a few clippings for perspective on the event. Get Supersized Images & Free Image Hosting. Create your brand with Auctiva’s. Measures approximately 1 7/8 across. Marked Sterling on the reverse. Weighs approximately 10 grams. The Sharpshooter Badge with two broad rings is the M1922, officially in use until replaced by the Army style badges in 1924. Many Marines continued to wear it, however, until it was replaced by the badge with 4 rings, adopted in 1937 and continued until 1958. _gsrx_vers_468 GS 6.4 (468).
