Exceedingly RARE to find in any condition, this is a very nice example of an Italian Partisan Lieutenant Uniform that includes both the Tunic and Breeches. The Partisans fought the Germans and Italian Army in 44 and 45 in Northern Italy and this particular Uniform is a Pre-War Design in its chocolate colored wool as well as includes the handmade insignia which was unique to the Partisans. The Tunic reflects “war sweat stains” most especially along the waistline beneath where the belt would have fit, otherwise remains in very nice, healthy condition with all the stitching still tightly in place and all the buttons still securely attached. The Tunic measures from shoulder seam to shoulder seam 16 1/2 inches across and from the top edge of the collar to the hemline 26 inches in length. The Breeches have also survived in very nice condition with all their buttons still attached and all the stitching nicely intact. The waistline measures about 32 inches and overall they measure from the top of the waistline to the breeches hemlines 28 inches in length. Truly a Rare Find Indeed! As World War II was coming to a close, the need of Swords for the Japanese Army still existed however, due to the lack of time as well as materials, swords increasingly became more crudely made in the attempt to meet the urgent need. This particular Sword is a very Late War “Last Ditch Effort” and is a very nice and rare example from this period as evidenced by the very simple wood and iron fittings. It is mounted with an arsenal War-Time blade that measures 26 1/8 inches in length which has survived in very nice condition with only some minor surface staining. The tang is signed with two characters that translates to ” TAKA MASA ” as well as is dated “Sho Wa Ju Hachi Nen Ni Gastu” which translates to “February 1943″. The hilt is wooden with a simple carved checkered design to resemble the Officer’s pattern. It is mounted with an equally simple brass tsuba and wooden scabbard that also features simple iron fittings, all remaining exceptionally nice in their condition. Overall measuring 38 7/8 inches in length. Truly a very nice, rare example for any advanced collector. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. Check out my other items. VINTAGE early aerial camera, military green. I believe it is missing the lens attachment. Not a whole lot of information out there on this particular model but pretty sure is was made in the late 20’s early 30’s and used on planes to take photographs. Seems to work ok as you crank the handle and the window opens and takes the picture. There is also a built in counter that records how many pics are taken. A really cool awesome camera and would make a nice display piece. Please see all pics for more detail, size and condition. The last 2 pictures are of similar design so you can see how these big cameras were used. The co destruction is made of brass, steel and wood. Please don’t hesitate to make offer as I have no idea how much something like this is worth. This is a fantastic and historic find! This helmet was taken as a souvenir by a US Citizen that was working for the american Dollar Steamship Company, (“Dollar lines” that carried the dollar sign on the Stacks of their ships in that era). The men named on the plaque are both employees of Dollar lines and these men were pioneers in global radio technology of that era and worked for dollar lines (who had acquired a exclusive radio band wave length in 1926) in setting up global wireless service at that time and they were to set up world wide antenna stations all over the pacific. It appears these men were pressed into service. With the Chinese 88th Division. (likely dealing with radio communications) in shanghai at the time of Japanese attack and had a part in the defense of Shanghai during the Japanese attack in 1937. This helmet was given from Kaufman to Brown as a souvenir of their involvement and service with 88th Division. The helmet has a. Glossy coat of paint applied to it and the Chinese emblem hand applied at that time and then the presentation metal plaque applied to the rear flare of the helmet and you can clearly see the age in the application of the plaque and the paint wear. When this work was being done on this helmet the workman found out just how hard it is to drill the steel of these old helmets and was able to get only two of the 4 rivets in place to hold the plaque but could not get the ones higher up the flare to drill and secured the top of the plaque with a weld or solider that did not hold well over the years and has broken free at some point but the plaque has not been removed or is it loose or wobbly, lower rivets holding it in place. When you look close at the helmet’s edges you can clear see the age of the paint and just how original and period that the work done to this rare helmet is. The helmet has never had a liner since it was painted and was clearly picked up from battle debris and used as a souvenir from Brown to Kaufman and from we can see it is exactly the way it was presented to him in 1937. Look close at the photos and you will see that this helmet finish shows age and chipping on the edge and around the vents and especially the outside of where the plate is affixed and you can see the age and that the paint is original and just the way it was fixed up and presented to Jerry Kaufman in 1937 Shanghai. The helmet was recently found in a estate sale and I subsequently acquired it from that person. I was able to request and get what little info I have on the men mentioned on the plaque from the estate handler who provided a short written history from the family or benefactor of the estate but was not willing to allow me further contact with that person. All in all, this is one of the rarest helmets of the WWII era first documented one that I have seen for sale in 40 years of collecting helmets. So if you think a double Decal SS M-35 helmet is rare, they are common as dirt compared to a original Chinese issue M-35 let alone one with this history! Over 100,000,000 served.
