For sale is a Portuguese issue Luger holster for GNR. This piece is used and shows signs of wear. There is minor green corrosion around some of the metal fasteners. Please see photos for details. It is 12 inches long overall and 6.25 inches at its widest point. There is a small pocket in the interior for a sight tool (not included). There are no visible makers marks but it is unit marked on the back, but the marking is not legible. It has a long narrow pocket on the outside for a cleaning rod (not included). Original very good condition 1943 Type 1 P38 Walther hard-shell holster by ewx Franz u. Karl Voegels Lederwarenfabrik in Koln. Karl Voegels Lederwarenfabrik was a very famous maker of both P38 and P08 holsters. They manufactured P38 holsters between 1942 and 1944. Nowadays the 1943 holster are much rarer than those made in 1941 and 1942. The holster has a fold-over top secured with a leather strap through a metal loop. The top has a metal reinforced plate which fits over the loop, all three are in very good secure condition. The long side of the holster has a stitched spare magazine pouch. The reverse of the holster has two leather stitched belt loops, both secure. Between the belt loops there is a’ewx’ stamp and 1943 date with WaA195 proof. There is a’P38′ stamp to the right of the second belt loop. Inside, the holster retains the’pull’ strap. The holster retains a firm shape. Please refer to the photos for condition and more details. It has a beautiful burgundy color throughout, with minor scuffs and scratches. The stitching is tight and appears all original. A very elegant holster thats almost 100 years old! Per Jan Stills Luger Forum site, it is believed the Crown signifies the corresponding Bavarian Army Corps. These holsters are almost all dated 1918 or undated, so likely produced near the end of World War I or just after. There were three Bavarian Army Corps Districts (I, II, III). The range of numbers under the crown, found on the holsters reflects the range of Bavarian Army Corps Districts (I-III) and lends credibility to the theory that the Crown/number indicates the Bavarian Army Corps. It has a very crisp FRIEDRICH BOTTGER EISLEBEN/1916 makers mark on the inside flap. Stitching is tight & appears all original. The inside tool flap is present & functions well. The holster is in very good condition overall. It has some minor scuffs and scratches. The belt buckle strap shows the most of amount of wear but isnt torn. I dont see any extra holes in the holster. The color is pretty uniform throughout. The toe and mag pouch maintained their shapes and are both fairly clean. Just an original, honest holster with minimal wear over the last 100 years! This is a good example of a Japanese Holster, Model 34 for a type 94 Pistol. It has survived well reflecting only good honest wear and with all the nice chestnut brown leather still healthy as well as with all the stitching still tightly intact.
