Features include a generous brown sheepskin mackinaw storm collar, double breasted front closure with horsehide buttonhole tabs on either side (allowing for right or left crossover fastening), a horsehide button chinstrap, horsehide trimmed flap pockets that can be worn tucked or untucked, and a beautiful beige cotton moleskin twill shell. Thick sheepskin lined body & wool lined sleeves with hidden wool knit cuffs. Medal of the Association for Prisoners of War 1934. Very rare silver medal (22 mm x 29 mm) issued by the Bolivian Association for Prisoners of War in. 18 March 1934 not listed in Ross. This is very likely an unofficial medal, but it is clear that this medal was issued in support of Bolivian POWs captured in the Chaco War with. The medal is in extremely fine condition, but it does have a couple of minor defects that resulted when it was die-struck: at the 12 oclock obverse position the letters SI (PRISIONEROS) were poorly struck, and at the 5 oclock obverse position the letters RA (GUERRA) were poorly struck. The medal is on what must be the original red/yellow/ green bow ribbon. This is one of the rarest medals from the Chaco War, a bitter conflict fought in an extremely inhospitable terrain. This can be expensive, but is necessary due to the unreliability of other postal systems. This is a very nice example of an Italian Air Force Dress Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a very nice straight, fullered blade that measures 30 1/4 inches in length. The blade is beautifully etched with bright blue and gold on either side, is marked by the maker E & F Hörster Solingen on the ricasso and remains in superb original condition. The lovely cup guard is in the motif of a full eagle’s wing with the pommel in the image of an eagle’s head and remains in nice tight condition. The black painted wooden hilt reflects a little wear to the painted finish, otherwise remains nice as well and the original twisted wire wrap is still securely in place. The metal scabbard is leather covered and beautifully fitted with the top fitting featuring the Air Force emblem. This is an extremely nice example of a Japanese Shin Gunto Army Officer’s Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful arsenal made, stainless steel blade that wears a cutting edge that measures 24 1/4 inches in length. The blade has survived in wonderfully nice original condition with only some very minor surface blemishes. The tang wears one hole and is unmarked. All the very nice quality fittings remain clean and in beautiful condition as well. The very nice metal scabbard also remains pristine in its condition. Overall measuring 39 1/8 inches in length. This is a very good example of a Japanese Police Lieutenant Level Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a machine made blade that measures 23 1/2 inches in length which remains in very nice original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The beautifully detailed guard wears the Police emblem (16-Ray Badge) on the backstrap near the pommel as well as very nice, intricately detailed leafy designs with cherry blossoms. The lovely hilt is nicely fishskin wrapped that shows a little good honest wear, nevertheless its original twisted wire wrap does remain tightly in place. The plated metal scabbard also reflects a bit of wear to its plating but does remain in nice serviceable as well and has no dings. Overall measuring 31 3/8 inches in length. Collection also includes an invitation to a dance at the International YMCA and a copy of Between War and Peace by Carol Wilcox Melton. With fewer than 8,000 U. Troops involved with the AEF, very little material has survived to this day. This collection is truly a historic treasure trove of rare, never before seen images. What makes this collection particularly better than others are the dozens of rare images of Mongolian peasant and villager life in and around Hailar, Mongolia. Very few AEF photos I have seen online show the local population. Subjects include but not limited to. Chinese New Years street festival. Chinese uniform school boys. Mongolian Buddhist monks and Lamas. Chinese Eastern Railroad construction & trains. Vladivostack streets & Russian troop march. Buddhist temples and shrines. Mongolian horse thief serving sentence.
