The grand cross set of the Order of the Legion of Honor is in excellent condition except for some enamel missing on one of the leafs of the wreath. The badge is made of gold and the set is from the period before 1946. Comes with the orignal case, sash and the set is made by the famous jeweller Bertrand, Paris. This is an example of a French Trench Knife, Model 1916 also known as “Le Vengeur de 1870″ and was manufactured by the maker S. O as marked on one side of the ricasso. It is mounted with a nice blade which measures 6 1/2 inches in length. The blade has survived in nice condition with only some minor surface scratches, light sharpening and minor stains. The wooden hilt is simple in design but nicely carved, remains healthy and is tightly fitted with a steel crossguard. This particular Trench Knife most likely saw action during WWII and the story is that the leather sheath was constructed from the leather of a German Fighter Pilot’s seat. This is a very nice example of a beautiful high ranking Japanese Army General Officer Dress Parade Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a lovely machine made blade that measures 29 1/8 inches in length which has survived in very nice original condition with just some minor surface blemishes. The outstanding guard wears an intricately detailed backstrap which includes sakura blossoms and frames a vibrant, colorful hilt with its twisted wire wrap still tightly in place. The plated metal scabbard has some minor flaking as well as a few small tiny dings, nevertheless does remain in very good serviceable condition. Overall measuring 35 3/4 inches in length. This is a very nice example of a short Japanese Army Officer Sword which dates from the Showa Era and is in Civilian Mount. It is mounted with a well-made arsenal blade that wears a cutting edge of 21 1/2 inches and from tip to tip it measures 29 1/8 inches in length. The blade boasts a lovely straight temper line which extends to the tip on both sides and remains in beautiful original condition with only some minor surface blemishes. The tang wears a Showa stamp and is signed ” Fukumoto KANEMUNE “. It wears gorgeous matching menuki and simple but very nice fuchi kashira that all remain in very nice condition as well.
