The Dominican Campaign Medal is a military decoration of the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps which was created on December 29, 1921. To be awarded the Dominican Campaign Medal, a servicemen must have performed active military duty in the Dominican Republic between the dates of May 5 and December 4, 1916. The medal commemorates the 1916 United States invasion of the Dominican Republic. The medal was designed by Adolph Alexander Weinman, and the design approved by the United States Commission of Fine Arts in November 1923. It was the first Navy and Marine Corps medal whose reverse face contained the inscription “For Service” on a straight line. This is from a set the government had discarded that was ostensibly the original artwork for the designing of the crests for the 48 State National Guard units and our associated territories. They are all original watercolors on board and are in varying condition and the time frame they were done was the 1920’s to the 1940’s and the dates are in the corners with the sign off of the relevant officer of the quartermaster general’s office. These are one of a kind design proofs for the State Guard unit crests and are extremely well done and executed. I do not know who this artist is. This design was approved by the Quartermaster’s department in 1926. It is in good condition with minor corner wear. The size is about 8″ x 10″. I focus on happy repeat customers and love what I do and try to ensure all customers are happy. I do not stay glued to my computer and have a real job so please do not expect instantaneous answers. World War II WWII Anti-Aircraft Battalion Virginia Photo Album Minesweepers. Original 1933 United States Marine Corps Quantico Virginia Barracks Post License Plate Permit. The Permit is for #20. The United States Marine Corps in 1933 consisted of 16,068 total Marines across the Globe. Plates such as this are hard to find from a time when the United States Military still had a large amount of horses and had not fully mechanized. In 1920 Marine Corps Schools were founded in order “to make this post and whole Marine Corps a great University” Quantico would see further expansion during World War II in training for amphibious warfare. Set of 2 1930s German aviation pins. WHW and Luftsport pin. Vintage 1930s/1940s “Deustcher Luftsport Verband” German air sports club pin. In nice condition showing some scrathe. WHW Donation pin in the shape of a plane with the inscription which roughly translates in English to “The German people have to become aviators”. The pin has a struck steel construction with pin to rear measuring 35mm x 30mm. The pin retains most of its plating.
