1920’s Rare Photo USS ARIZONA BB-39 Admiral’s Barge Next To USS Oklahoma BB-37. 3 1/2″ x 2 1/2″. On 7 December 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, and Arizona was hit by several air-dropped armor-piercing bombs. One detonated an explosive-filled magazine, sinking the battleship and killing 1,177 of its officers and crewmen. The shipwreck still lies at the bottom of Pearl Harbor beneath the USS Arizona Memorial. Some sailors inside escaped when rescuers drilled holes and opened hatches to rescue them. Unlike most of the other battleships that were recovered following Pearl Harbor, Oklahoma was too damaged to return to duty.

Demuth — also included is a 1927 Colorado fishing license of the Captain’s, found with the ID Card and helping to place it in time — — this is an original item actually obtained from the estate of Colonel Demuth here in Corvallis quite a number of years ago.
