Here is a wonderful WW1 USMC painted helmet. ID’d to Thomas E. Lee who was a member of the 69th Guard Company, 11th Regiment, 5th Marine Brigade, AEF. He was at Camp Pontanezen, France from what I can tell. Stunning color artwork with crossed American and French flag, large EGA to front along with German style tortoiseshell camo design. This is 100% guaranteed to be real, and is one of the most attractive Marine Corps painted helmets we have ever seen. It is pictured in full color in Alec Tulkoff’s wonderful book: Equipping the Corps. It really is a centerpiece in any USMC or Great War helmet collection.
