British India General Service Medal Northwest Frontier 1936-37 3-1 Punjab Regt. Officially impressed 6469 Naik Manawar Din, 3-1 Punjab R. During the years 1936 to 1939, the 3rd Battalion, 1st Punjab Regiment (3/1st Punjab) was actively deployed on the North West Frontier Province, specifically operating in the highly volatile Waziristan region (modern-day Pakistan). The unit was engaged in intense, unconventional mountain warfare to suppress the widespread tribal rebellion led by the Faqir of Ipi. In October 1937, the 1/16 Battalion was assigned to the 3rd (Jhelum) Brigade at Ghariom and subsequently moved to Mir Ali to secure the vital Bannu-Razmak road.
