For your consideration is this scarce, 1920’s Era United States Marine Corps Enlisted Alpha Service Cover. It’s being offered by us, as found, uncleaned. The leather band, buttons, and leather bill are all in very good condition. The included EGA is original to the period and appears original to the cover as well. The inside leather band is in very good condition, but retains approximately half the original stitching, which is very common with covers this old. There is also a moth bite on the top about the size of a pin head. This is a very scarce, transitional period cover, and is one of the nicer examples we’ve seen for sale. Overall, this cover is a true survivor, and if you’re looking for a museum piece or want to top off a period uniform, this fantastically preserved piece has no issues, and is ready to be displayed proudly. Size is 7 1/4. Note – the side buttons are secured using pins as apposed to the later screw in button system. Rarer WWI M-1917 OFFICERS POMMEL POCKET LEATHER POUCH FOR MODEL 1917 OFFICERS FIELD SADDLE. As an accessory of Model 1917 Officers Field Saddle, this right side pommel (They came in left or right side) pocket provided quick access to daily task tools etc. This pocket is fair to good condition. It has a great patina. The top flap is a bit dryer due to the direct exposition to the sun. The pebble grain leather is pliable for the rest of the pouch. The brass metal hardware is in very good condition. The gusset is complete and intact with none of the wear or tearing often found in the softer gusset leather on these pockets. The pouch back is stamped Q. Therefore it is a Jeffersonville Quartermaster Depot made and inspected by H. It is a post WWI made. Another stamp I read NZ is probably the leather master initials. Size is 7 inches wide and about 11 inches long. Thank you for looking. Catalog Fighting Ships by T. Jane (aka famous “Jane’s Fighting Ships”). 1920 edition by Sampson Low, Martson & Co Naval Publishers, London and Edinburgh. Hard cover, 12 ½ x 8 format, 579 pp. The front cover and several advertisement pages in the front are loose, but the binding of the text block is otherwise holding together well. The spine cover is missing. Boards worn at the corners and scuffed on the front. Some of the pages, mostly in the back, are wrinkled and creased. The interior is very clean overall with mild age toning only. There is a lightly sketched caricature portrait of a man and some scribbled notes in pencil throughout the first advertisement pages. The main portion of the book however is nearly pristine: shows no stains, pen or pencil marks, or tears, although few last pages (primarily on the Turkish navy) have wear to the edges. This book is a great resource for a naval historian, collector or model builder. The word RARE is certainly overused in this business, I have been guilty of using it too often myself… But this is an exception. I have included a photo in the listing of an example of this type propeller (look closely) on the Mitsubishi 1MF10 Japanese Fighter Airplane designed in 1933 by Jiro Horikoshi whose near future design was the famous Japanese Zero Fighter which incorporated some of the 1MF10s Engineering. She has several markings on the hub as well as on a blade near the hub. I tried to have it translated with some limited success and the main Japanese text markings that were legible loosely read, starting at top row Zero Type Small River… It has some scrapes and small dings in the metal leading edges, but overall it is in very nice condition… Truly an opportunity for an aviation historian and military collector, a true museum piece. Up for sale is a 10¢ token issued by the Post Barber Shop at Fort Missoula, Montana, issued circa early-mid 20th Century, likely during the 1930s, when the fort was used as headquarters for the Civilian Conservation Corps. Description : The token is made from aluminum and measures about 24mm in diameter. It is listed in Rubick. Fort Missoula was used from aout 1877 to 1947, and was used as a CCC HQ from about 1933-42. M 1921 post WWI pre WWII Hungarian Air Force Pilot Observer Badge. This is an extremely rare badge introduced in 1921. Prior to 1918, Hungarian pilots were issued Austrian badges as part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1921, Hungary manufactured its own badges with the Hungarian colors in the shield at the bottom. These badges remained in service until WWII. Budapest makers mark on eagle (more precisely Turul) reverse.
