This is a very nice example of a World War II Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer Sword mounted with a large and hefty grooved, hand-forged blade. This very fine Shin Shinto, unsigned blade wears a cutting edge of 27 1/2 inches in length and from tip to tip it measures 36 1/8 inches. The grooved blade wears a visibly beautiful actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side and remains in very nice condition with only some very minor surface pitting spots on the cutting edge that could be remedied in the right hands. The Sword wears high quality Army Shin Gunto Regulation Mounts which also remain in very nice, clean condition. The Regulation metal scabbard remains in superb condition as well.
