This is an original pre WWII USS Tennessee BB-43 sailors photo album. There are 134 photo’s, a few are missing, but overall it is in great condition. All our items come from estate sales, yard sales, flea markets or places that we have traveled. All Japanese items come directly from Japan. I lived in Japan for 8 years and collected several nice pieces. Feedback will be left once feedback is received. If you get it dry cleaned or repaired prior to contacting me once. The front of the album itself has a photo of the USS Pennsylvania- Flagship of the US Fleet- in it. In the beginning are the signatures addresses and comments from 41 of his fellow sailors. He has filled out 7 pages of the log/ diary that follow the signature pages. The photos are all original snapshot photos with some exceptions here and there (some are real photo postcards, etc)- the majority are original snapshots. I counted just over 140 photos. They are all held in place with corner tabs so theyre not glued in at all. US fleet anchored in Panama, Several of Panama City/ Old Panama, Refueling Destroyer #340, Pennsy in Battle Maneuvers, Sailors swimming in the bay, Beer for all! Sailors/ soldiers on parade/ landing force, May 1934 in New York City (Parade up 5th Ave, Battle Force entering the Hudson River, some buildings including the Empire State Building). Shells laid out on deck, guns firing at night, Boxing match on board, etc etc. The album itself has some wear but is in pretty nice shape yet. The photos are excellent. There are some that are in here loose and might not be on the correct pages, and there are some here and there that seem to be missing but not many. Vintage PHOTO ALBUM 260+ PHOTOGRAPHS 1910’s-30’s MILITARY CARS SHIPS & MORE!! Original photograph album with over 260 photographs measuring approximately 7 1/4″ x 11 3/4″ x 1. Cover is in “as is” vintage condition with overall fading, soiling, corners show wear and corner bumps. There are approximately 56 pages with photos and 35 blank in the back. Pages are in good to very good condition. Although there are no real descriptions on the pages, the photos speak for themselves – lots of military, Army & Navy soldiers, some casual & others look like training of some kind with machine guns, gas masks and in trench. Also, lots of old cars, ships, families, men, women, kids, babies, animals and travels. Please look carefully at scans as they are part of the condition description. A scanner or camera may “see” a photograph differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person. This is an amazing album in excellent condition. I’ve scanned everything so you can look at it all. Majority of album is unused – in perfect unused condition. 39 photos are carefully free-mounted with corners, plus 20 additional photos that were never put inside. All photos measure the same size 2.375 x 3.375. 19 of the 20 loose photos have notes on the back to explain exactly what we’re looking at. Some photos inside have notes as well but it was hard to pop them out and pop them back in again so some of the discovery is up to you. These were all taken in 1924. Two show the intersection of Fort & King Streets in downtown Honolulu w/ a policeman directing traffic. We see people on Pier 2 waiting for transport, the Dry Docks of Pearl Harbor (where #27 is moored). We see the United States Army Transports Cuba & Grant. Pier 5 Gov Pier’ both from a distance and then from the street side of the buildings with Hawaiians & soldiers and cars. We see the 27th Inf. We see early military cars for’Official Use Only’ w/ drivers often named on back. There’s a shot of The Punchbowl. The sea wall at Waikiki. A grass hut on King Street. Quarters at Fort Shafter. Pictures of a 12 gun. On the Palace Grounds we see a great throng of people… Hawaiians, military, and Reserve Officers Training Corps. The date is Nov 11th, 1924. An event takes place where Governor W. Farrington, Admiral McDonald, & Army General C. Menoher all occupy the same outdoor stage. Album Measures 7.25 x 12 Condition. All in Excellent Condition. Two albums brought home by a USMC veteran of old China and the Philippines, having served in Peking, Tientsin, Shanghai and Cavite. Has a wonderful painted front cover with Marine’s name painted to the front right “Smead C Posey”, US and Marine Corps flags, crossed rifles and a Carabao/water buffalo skull. Worn but visible is Cavite P. I under the flags. 178 total original photos of sites and scenes around Shanghai, Cavite and Tientsin. Some photos are missing and onion skin divider pages are cracked brittle or coming loose. Multiple photos that depict the Boeing or China Clipper, Chinese scenes, Philippine girlfriends, on the beach, on the range, Cavite barracks and buildings, some colorized photos, Cavite USMC basketball team, a group photo, the salt beds, and Enlisted Club at Tientsin. Second album is a scrap book, someone has scratched out the “S”, kinda funny… It has about 12 pages of photos, receipts, signatures, chits, a couple of bulletins, postcards and comes with over 50 loose scrap or cutouts from Magazines and newspaper, subject mainly military, poems, and scenes of Philippines and China. Large 17 x 12.5 album with 42 pages chock full of photographs (over 90 ranging in size from 2.5″ x 2″ to 9.5″ to 8″), ephemera, clippings, and artifacts documenting a cadets United States Military Academy experience at West Point, New York. The album, pages, and content are in nice shape. The album has some minor wear; the gilt USMA insignia on the front cover has dulled. The binding cord may have been replaced. The album begins with Pratt as a Yearling (guess he didnt have much time as a Plebe although there is one photograph of him labeled Plebe Hike and another of Recognition Day) and continues through his year as a Firstie. He was an instructor at the Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the XO of the 2nd Communications Regiment, a staff officer at European Command, and a member of the Military Advisory Group to the Republic of Korea.
