This is an amazing album in excellent condition. I’ve scanned everything so you can look at it all. Majority of album is unused – in perfect unused condition. 39 photos are carefully free-mounted with corners, plus 20 additional photos that were never put inside. All photos measure the same size 2.375 x 3.375. 19 of the 20 loose photos have notes on the back to explain exactly what we’re looking at. Some photos inside have notes as well but it was hard to pop them out and pop them back in again so some of the discovery is up to you. These were all taken in 1924. Two show the intersection of Fort & King Streets in downtown Honolulu w/ a policeman directing traffic. We see people on Pier 2 waiting for transport, the Dry Docks of Pearl Harbor (where #27 is moored). We see the United States Army Transports Cuba & Grant. Pier 5 Gov Pier’ both from a distance and then from the street side of the buildings with Hawaiians & soldiers and cars. We see the 27th Inf. We see early military cars for’Official Use Only’ w/ drivers often named on back. There’s a shot of The Punchbowl. The sea wall at Waikiki. A grass hut on King Street. Quarters at Fort Shafter. Pictures of a 12 gun. On the Palace Grounds we see a great throng of people… Hawaiians, military, and Reserve Officers Training Corps. The date is Nov 11th, 1924. An event takes place where Governor W. Farrington, Admiral McDonald, & Army General C. Menoher all occupy the same outdoor stage. Album Measures 7.25 x 12 Condition. All in Excellent Condition. This one is from my personal collection. I use to heavily collect marksmanship related items, but have decided the thin the herd and refine the focus lately. Group includes the named Good Conduct Medal, Divisional Match Badge, and Marine Corps Match badge. The Good Conduct is officially engraved, however the shooting badges are now. Fortunately, the Marine hand-etched his initials on the rear of both, and’DWC’ can be seen. According to the Muster Rolls, this Marine was a trumpeter in the band who served at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Quantico, and I believe he metaled at Quantico in 1925. These early badges don’t appear often, and it’s even tougher to find attributed badges that weren’t engraved. Nice little research project… I can’t imagine many bandsmen were metaled in the matches! But we all know what it is and there is no damage under the blurs, if you want to see it uncensored this is listed on craigslist at Pittsburgh Pa. This is in great clean shape, the braids are still intact around the handle, has some small nicks and scratches, and a small dent at bottom of scabbard, i only wiped this with a rag and did no other type cleaning, i would leave that to new owner. There is no name on blade that i can find, i was told that is normal and there were dagger made that had no name. Great collectible of military German items. 687b POLAND POLISH NAVY OBSERVER WINGS BADGE, bolts of lighting in gold gilt, multi piece construction, 11 pieces held together by a series of rivetes, silver gilt badge, very rare hand made by Col Bialkiewicz in London after the war. This badge is exactly the same as the original. Nothing known to me exists that comes closer to the very rare original. For those who do not know anything about Col. Bialkiewicz may be interested to know a little about this Polish patriot. A recipient of the Virtuti Militari for his heroic tank battle as a Captain at Monte Cassino. After the war he learned a trade as a jeweler making womens jewelery. His hobby was collecting and making medals and badges for exiled Polish soldiers. He donated much of his good fortune to poor Polish disabled veterans. I had the pleasure of knowing him and he shared some of his badges with me. May he rest in peace and his memory live on.
