WWII, W & L E Gurley, Military, US Army, Telescope M1910A1, Spotting Scope. The very nice and rare WW2, US Army M1910 A1 artillery scope employed by the US Army as a tool to adjust artillery fire. Manufactured by W & L E Gurley of Troy, NY. The scope is solid brass, lens are clear and unscratched comes with 2 lens 10x & 15x, light shield and several additional lens. The leather storage case does show wear and is drying out. The straps and handle are not torn. At one time it had a shoulder carrying strap that has long disappeared. It weighs 35 pounds. A rare, original, hard to find, Iron Cross by Walter & Henlein (109). This fine Iron Cross has a 3 piece construction, the core is magnetic and the ribbon does not glow under UV light. This is an extremely nice example of a WW2 Japanese Army Officers Shin Gunto. It is mounted with a very nice old koto blade. The early high quality type 94 koshirae with pierced tsuba remains in exceptionally nice condition. Japanese Army Officers Shin gunto Sword with a very rare Colonel Grade Tassel. The sword blade is very old and dates from no later than the late 1650s. This is mounted in above average military pattern fittings and the gilt is almost completely intact on the handle and on the scabbard as well. To the Japanese Army officer a Sword was a sacred symbol that conveyed high social status. This was a family heirloom that was re-purposed into the regulation Army Officers Shin Gunto Sword and would have certainly had great sentimental value to the Japanese Army Colonel who carried it as a badge of rank. The Japanese Military Officers Samurai sword was the most prized war trophy of the Pacific War and it was an iconic symbol of the Japanese ethos of Warfare. Shinano Kami Fujiwara Daido. Overall, 38 3/4 inches; blade, 26 inches; blade and tang, 34 3/8 inches. Sword smith name is. And he worked mainly Keian. Original 1920’s US Navy dress sword as shown. Original uncleaned condition from the family estate. Overall length in the scabbard is 33 5/8. The blade just under 28 long. Knight on one side of blade. Records show as Lt. Commander of the Navy Intelligence division, serving in (at least) the years of 1923 and 1924. Marked only “proved” without a maker’s name. The blade is unsharpened as a dress sword (the tip is sharp). The handle is a natural shark? Skin that has some wear and missing spots on one side at the guard. Otherwise excellent condition overall.
