Rare Uruguayan Model 1900 Bayonet w/ Scabbard. Rare bayonet, FN Mauser rifle. Blade and scabbard are from French 1886 Lebel, with new quillioned cross guard and a brass hilt. Serial 818 on top of hilt is only marking. This is one of the half rivet versions with only partial rivet holding the crossguard and pommel, there is also a full rivet version. Stains on hilt are superficial only. I make every possible effort to accurately and closely describe items including condition, age, and any other pertinent information but it is my opinion. Offered for sale is extremely rare and old star order of Yugoslavian Crown Grand class, from Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Order of Crown was the highest award in the Kingdom at the time and was awarded only to top officials, generals, diplomatic personnel and heads of foreign states. Rarely awarded to foreigners. Very few awards were given! Enamel is real hard enamel, tested with the needle. Star is made from silver with gold plating. Size – 76 mm. Made by Huguenin in Switzerland. One of the most scarce Balkan orders, rarely for sale and sells for high prices. Award is in good condition for it’s age. There are some rough surface areas on white enamel. This is a rare US Navy grouping for a man who was stationed on the USS NARWHAL at Pearl Harbor on Dec. See pictures 10 and 11. The group consists of his frock coat, evening dress coat, trousers with braid, and his Midshipman tunic. All are in very nice condition with only one button missing from the tunic. The fore and aft hat, epaulettes, and gold belt are in a tin box with his initials painted on top. All are in excellent condition except for the box. It is dented with paint missing and the lock is off but included. The sword is in fine condition with the scabbard showing only very minor flaking. The leather case is in good condition but is missing part of the strap to buckle it closed and some mild mothing to the liner. Scabbard is engraved with his initials and the leather case also has his initials. Interestingly his last name is misspelled on the blade, an “A” is missing. Also included is his 1931 Academy yearbook, silver anniversary yearbook, and thirty first anniversary yearbook. The papers that are included are all copies except his retirement paper. Also included is a second sword belt, a medal and a comb with missing teeth in a leather pouch which also has a rusting file. I think this is the highlight of the whole group. The USS Narwhal is credited with shooting down a Japanese Zero (along with a destroyer) which is the first submarine kill of the war. This group is from the officer who claims he shot it down. This is a rare Pearl Harbor AND submarine related group. I just noticed that in the picture of the yearbooks there is a small book titled The Silver Quiver, it does not go with this group. The crate has been in my attic for over 25 years and is under a large pile of stuff. No sense in digging it out until or if the group sells. The price listed may be lower if you live on the East Coast. It will take me a few days to dig out the crate and pack everything safely so please be patient. Excellent little set of items from a marine. The ribbon is separated from the medal but is original too it and could be conserved, the Engraving is gorgeous. This is a nice early example 1920-22 and is named and Numbered too a marine for his first enlistment. A great research project! Odd model that is not of brass fittings as per regulations but instead is iron/nickel hilted version which is mounted with a blade stamped with the AP , fasces and CM markings and these were from the Arsenal of Paris that inspected foreign made blade so big possibility this sword was for Allied heavy cavalry (Wurttemberg, Bavaria, Holland, Bade etc). Another possibility is that it was made during the end of the Empire with an iron hilt due to shortage of brass and given an old recycled blade. Whatever the reason, it has history and is super attractive! Good condition: the whole sword is in very shiny state with some spots here and there but overall very well preserved, but the handguard has some light movement. The knuckle bow is stamped with faint barred numbers and inspection marks. The scabbard also has a barred service number and a stamp at the drag; it also has that unknown rope holding the 2 rings, something which is very often encountered on period swords. Sword length: 43 / 110cm. Blade length: 37 / 95cm. Total length: 45 / 115cm. Low reserve price for such a sought after model!
