#30 POLAND POLISH WWII POLISH AIR FORCE ORDER OF THE VIRTUTI MILITARI, #9198, 5th class, Silver gilt worn, superb enamels. Jozef Zawadzki who was attached to the 304th Slask Bomber Squadron as a Pilot observer during the Battle of Britain. Very rare 2nd type VM. A small number of these 5th class VMs were left over from 1921 production run and awarded until the supply ran out with the last number being 9,999. After that, VMs were never machine stamped with numbers. New supply of VMs were ordered from Spinks, Rubin in Palestine, in Italy and Polish Tech jewelers in London. Mounted on a old original Swiss made ribbon. New replacement ribbon will be supplied. Very rare VM award for Polish Air Force members. It is one of 1,500 crosses awarded during WWII which were made in the 1920’s. Superb example of Polish Military History during WWII. It maybe of some interest to those who are not familiar with Polish History to know that thousands of VM recipients from the WWI era also fought in the 1939 campaign. The where killed on the battlefield in full uniform or captured. In once place at one time at Katyn, 22,000 thousand Polish officers and NCOs were shot by the Soviets. Unique and exceedingly rare watch never seen before!!! This edition of IWC award watches are made of stainless steel in wartime, in which time is extremely costly, the price was more than one gold!!! Diameter without a crown 48mm. In good working order. Here is some incredible history of “Admiral Graf Spee” Battleship. The vessel was named after Admiral Maximilian von Spee, commander of the East Asia Squadron that fought the battles of Coronel and the Falkland Islands, where he was killed in action, in World War I. She was laid down at the Reichsmarinewerft shipyard in Wilhelmshaven in October 1932 and completed by January 1936. Armed with six 28 cm (11 in) guns in two triple gun turrets, Admiral Graf Spee and her sisters were designed to outgun any cruiser fast enough to catch them. Their top speed of 28 kn (52 km/h; 32 mph) left only a handful of ships in the Anglo-French navies able to catch them and powerful enough to sink them. Admiral Graf Spee was deployed to the South Atlantic in the weeks before the outbreak of World War II, to be positioned in merchant sea lanes once war was declared. This is a superb example of a Japanese Army Officer’s Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a STAR STAMPED Gendai blade with a cutting edge that measures 24 1/2 inches in length and wears a lovely wavy temper line which extends to the tip on either side. The blade has survived in excellent condition with only some minor light surface blemishes. The tang is signed and dated which translates to “Musashi no kuni Akiyuki zou kore” and “Showa juhachinen go gatsu kichi jitsu (1943, May lucky day)”. All the Regulation fittings also remain in very good condition as well as does the scabbard. Overall measuring 39 1/4 inches in length. Be sure to add me to your favorites list. This is an exceptionally nice example of a Japanese Non-Regulation Naval Officer’s Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful, well made Antique Shinto Blade that wears a cutting edge of 26 1/2 inches. The blade has survived in superb condition in gorgeous polish with only some very minor surface blemishes and does boast a fabulously active straight temper line. The tang wears two holes and is signed on one side which translates to “Fujiwara SADATSUGU “. The hilt and all the fittings remain in excellent condition as well. The wooden scabbard continues to wear its beautiful leather combat covering that also remain in outstanding, healthy condition. Still present, is the original brown double tassel, complete with braided slide which remains near mint in its condition. Overall measuring 38 1/2 inches in length. This is an extremely nice and rare variation example of a Japanese Naval Officer’s Kai Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a beautiful Arsenal oil tempered blade that wears a cutting edge of 25 3/4 inches. The blade has survived in very nice original condition with only some very minor surface blemishes and boasts a fabulously active temper line that extends to the tip on both sides. The tang is signed on one side which translates to ” KANE KUNI “. The hilt and all the fittings remain in excellent condition as well however, the beautiful tsuba shows a bit of flaking to its plating along the edge. The scabbard wears a gorgeous shagreen covering that remains very healthy and is mounted with a RARE extended drag. The lower ashi (ring) is an older replacement. #26 POLISH POLAND ORDER OF THE VIRTUTI MILITARI. A three part construction with gold gilt and enameled medal cross. Superb quality on original Swiss made ribbon. Very rare original made in 1921 by Krupski and Matulewicz who made 170 3rd classes for the Ministry of Military Affairs. It is the only higher class pre WWII VM available on the market. It should belong to a person who charishes the true meaning of this superb decoration. Original pre WWII Commanders and Grand Crosses are impossible to obtain at any price.
