Just an incredible find. A rare USS Lexington original pre WWII photo album. Appears to have belonged to a Navy pilot on the Lexington. Filled with 225 photos. Album is not completely full. Also there is several pages of the pilots daily diary. The entries are dated 1930. There are some personal photos but most are military photos. Incredible images of old Boeing Navy warplanes, rare in flight photos, a sailor/pilot stunt riding his Harley Davidson on the runway, several great images of the Lexington as well as photos on board. Way too much to describe here. Not enough room for all photos on listing. Just a rare piece of Naval history. Will include as many photos as I can. The word RARE is certainly overused in this business, I have been guilty of using it too often myself… But this is an exception. I have included a photo in the listing of an example of this type propeller (look closely) on the Mitsubishi 1MF10 Japanese Fighter Airplane designed in 1933 by Jiro Horikoshi whose near future design was the famous Japanese Zero Fighter which incorporated some of the 1MF10s Engineering. She has several markings on the hub as well as on a blade near the hub. I tried to have it translated with some limited success and the main Japanese text markings that were legible loosely read, starting at top row Zero Type Small River… It has some scrapes and small dings in the metal leading edges, but overall it is in very nice condition… Truly an opportunity for an aviation historian and military collector, a true museum piece. Vintage antique Nurnberg beer mug ceramic stein WW1 Imperial German Lowenbrau 1L. Here is your chance to own a very nice ceramic beer mug. This example in honor of the city of Nuremberg, Germany is unfortunately missing the original lid. This is a 1 Liter example and is marked as such. Original German Kriegsmarine naval officer’s sword with sheath, either Weimar republic or WWII but reconciled to be more likely produced during the Weimar Republic after researching different design variants of the lion’s head German naval sword and the apparent scarcity of this exact design. Sword has NO OFFENSIVE MARKINGS and is in overall very good condition. Sheath has some light rubbing wear to the leather as well as some minor and superficial white scuffs. Sheath is overall very well intact though the middle and lower brass pieces are missing their staples. Blade is in very nice condition and shows an etched naval motif which remained the same from the WWI imperial period and earlier through the Weimar Republic and WWII. Blade is very well intact but does show some normal tarnishing for it’s age that should be able to be cleaned if the next owner chooses to do so. Blade has 553 serial number as well as ACS with scales mark for the Alcoso maker. Grip has a crack from the upper end to about the middle measuring about 1 1/2 inches. Though the grip is cracked no pieces are falling free or loose at all. Hilt is in excellent condition with anchor and floral motif with lion’s head at the lower end with a green and red jewel for each eye. Hinges on hilt perfectly intact and function as they should. Portapee is present and sturdy and overall in good condition with some obvious fraying. Blade measures 28 1/4 inches long. Entire sword in sheath measures 33 7/8 inches. This is an original WWII Japanese Army soldiers going to war banner. I had it translated and it reads “Spirit of loyalty and patriotism by enrolling in the Army” It measures 29 by 34 inches, has some water stains and a couple of small snags, but is still in great condition. All our items come from estate sales, yard sales, flea markets or places that we have traveled. All Japanese items come directly from Japan. This is a very nice example of a Japanese Naval Officer’s Dress Sword that dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a beautiful machine made blade that measures 25 3/4 inches in length. The plated blade although remains in good condition, has flaking to the plating on either side. The D-guard is beautifully detailed with pretty cherry blossoms “sakura” motifs that adorn the pommel, the backstrap and the guard face and frame a lovely white samé covered hilt with the original twisted wire wrap still securely in place. The wonderful shagreen covered scabbard has survived beautifully and in very healthy condition. All the lovely fittings continue to wear much of their original gold wash, and although the base fitting has a small ding on one side, they do remain very nice in their condition as well.
