WWII German Mauser Long Bayonet with Scabbard. Ricasso is marked “Aesculap” over a crown, over a scepter with a snake wrapped around it and on the reverse is “Aesculap-Werke Jetter & Scheerer Tuttlingen”, a rare maker of bayonets (they stopped in 1941) and are known for making medical/surgical equipment. Red felt in the groove. A little nickel loss on the pommel and crossguard. The blade is mostly mirror clean with a few light scratches, unsharpened, the tip is sharp, no nicks, no rust, and the blade is a little loose. Lock button is functional. The scabbard is solid with no dents/dings, a little surface rust on the edges and near the ball finial. Leather washer is missing. Length of the blade measures 9 7/8″ (1″ wide x 1/4″ thick spine), length of the bayonet is 14 9/16″, and in the scabbard it is 15 1/2. Check out my other War items!! I think this is German.. Solid but has lots of wear.. Looks like faded markings on opposite side of numbers.

Pre-WWII German M84 K98 Mauser Bayonet with Scabbard. Pommel is marked “2017 P” and there are two illegible Waffenampt marks. Underside of the crossguard has another illegible mark. The wood grips have some nicks/chips/scratches. The blade still has 85% of the bluing, lightly sharpened, a few nicks, and there is a slight bend about 1/8 up from the tip. Push button is functional. The scabbard is solid with a couple dents/dings, light pitting, and there is an illegible mark on the ball finial. Length of the blade measures 9 13/16″ (1″ wide x 3/16″ thick spine), length of the bayonet is 15 1/16″, and in the scabbard it is 15 15/16. Check out my other War items!!
