1936 Meissen Porcelain Medal Erlangen Huguenot 250th Anniversary Germany Boxed
The medal was designed by Dr. Ernst Deuerlein of Erlangen and executed by the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen, as documented by the printed inscription and crossed-swords marks inside the original presentation box. One side depicts Margrave Christian Ernst of Brandenburg-Bayreuth in profile with the inscription. “MARKGRAF CHRISTIAN ERNST – GRÜNDER DER STADT CHRISTIAN-ERLANGEN”. The opposite side depicts Erlangen’s Huguenot Church (Hugenottenkirche) and commemorates the 250th anniversary of the city’s Huguenot foundation. The inscription includes the date 1936 and the period wording UNTER ADOLF HITLER. The original box is marked. “Ausführung: Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meißen”. “Alleinverkauf: Kunstgewerbehaus Willy Löffler, Erlangen”. The exterior label reads. The medal measures approximately 1 3/8 inches in diameter, as shown in the measurement photograph. Includes the original fitted presentation box, which shows age-related wear, staining/foxing and deterioration consistent with its age. The porcelain medal shows some surface discoloration/spotting.
