In 1938, the Romanian army bought 300,000 helmets from the Dutch company Verblifa. It was the Dutch M34 model. On the front a copper emblem was soldered with the double’C’ of King Carol and the Romanian crown. This helmet is an original restored relic from the battlefield. Because most of the emblems have been removed in and after WW2, this is a very rare helmet. The helmet belongs to every serious helmet collection. It was rarely photographed during the short period of peace this helmet has known. After the defeat of the French army in 1940 and the signing of the Armistice in June, this model remained in in the navy buildings assigned to both sides. One side residual forces of the Government of Marshall Pétain, the other side being the troops of the’free French’, alongside the allies. Thus, this helmet model 39 remained in staffing throughout the second world war, and its production is resumed in the aftermath of the war for the needs of the Navy in the far East. It would seem that the 39 Navy model was only manufactured by Dunois Vincennes. Dieser seltene französische Helm erschien 1939. This helmet has a big red star as used in the 1920’s and 1930’s by Soviet Union Red Army soldiers. Cloth liner has ink stamp “2” and there is maybe an another ink stamp under the liner (on the interior shell).
