Up for sale is a very nice, albeit used, Italian M1909 sword. The bluing is dark and glossy, the sword balances nicely and is in overall good shape- however, there’s a chip out of the palm-swell of wood grip, and the blade shows evidence of old, period sharpening. Take a look at my feedback to see how other buyers liked my previous US Navy Photo albums. You will have a hard time finding one like this again. The album is approximately 13.5″ x9″ x 1 and it has approximately 270 black and white period photographs held in with paper corners. Approximately 120 are on or of the Pennsylvania herself and other U. Warships she came in contact with. I would guess another 20 to 30 are of sailors on the beach. Most of the photos have captions under them identifying ships or crew members. But the sailor himself is not identified. Many of these photos are original and unpublished and I really think they are exceptional. Around a half dozen of the photos are missing. I see this leather album cover is unique with heavy embossing on a nautical theme with the Pennsylvania photo in the center and it is in pretty good condition, but the binding straps look to be replacements for the usual rawhide ones. But the photos are the most important thing and they are very nice. Some of the interesting photos are first photo from the bow with a lot of detail of the fore turrets and the bridge. The #5 shot from the bridge showing the fore turrets. And the last photo is rare because it is from inside the 14 gun turret #4, which seems to be this sailor’s action station. I have saved this for years and now I realize I need to clear out some space for different interests. I will pack it back up very well. Please check my other auctions. This is a good example of a Japanese War-Time Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a lovely arsenal blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 26 1/8 inches in length. The blade has some minor scratches on one side as well as some very minor stains on the other side, otherwise remains in good original condition. The signed tang wears the signature ” TAKAMASA ” along one side and a date that translates to “Showa juhachinen kugatsu (1943, September)” on its other side. All the beautiful quality fittings remain very nice in their condition. The metal scabbard has a few small working dings on one side only, nevertheless remains in very good serviceable condition as well. Overall measuring 40 1/2 inches in length. This is a good example of a Japanese D-Guard Army Officer’s Kyu Gunto Sword. It is mounted with an ancestral blade that wears a cutting edge of 19 inches in length. The blade although is in need of a professional polish, does remain in good condition with just some minor openings but no cracks and no bends. The tang wears two holes and shows to have been shortened leaving only a portion of the signature Omidajo Fuji? The large D-guard remains in nice condition with some of the original gild still present and is enhanced with a silver family mon on the backstrap. The beautiful white rayskin covered hilt is a bit damaged near the peg hole, otherwise remains very healthy in its condition and a small portion of the original twisted wire wrap is still present. The plated metal scabbard remains very nice with only some minor flaking near the drag nevertheless has no dings. Overall measuring 33 1/8 inches in length. Be sure to add me to your favorites list.
