This is a nice U. Marines Corps Regulation Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a beautiful blade that measures 29 3/8 inches in length which remains in nice condition with lovely etching on either side as well as is engraved with the name of the original owner on one side. The gilded brass guard is simple in design and remains in good condition with just some wear to the gold finish and frames nice composite grips that have now richly mellowed with age and remain tightly in place. The metal scabbard wears nicely detailed brass fittings and although now has some light oxidation to the plating, does remain in good serviceable condition with no dings. It’s shape is just like the Swedish M26’Baltic’ helmet, but the Norwegian helmets have a small enbossed crest!!!! Outside I repainted it according to the same helmet in my collection, which has it’s original paint. The first helmets were produced in Sweden, then in Norway by the Raufoss A. Company (book’Marzetti’ number 54.5). During the German occupation the helmets were used by collaborating institutions. Have a look at the pictures and my other ads as well! This is a good example of an U. Sword, Model 1902 and is marked by the Military Outfitter THE M. COLUMBUS, OHIO on the ricasso. It is mounted with a slightly curved blade that measures 29 3/4 inches in length which remains in very nice condition with only a bit of staining to the extreme tip nevertheless continues to wear all of its beautiful etched on either side. The nickel plated guard frames a composite grip, all also in very good condition with just some light flaking to the plating. The nickel plated metal scabbard has some light scuffing but no dings and remains in very good serviceable condition. Overall measuring 36 3/4 inches in length. There is no reserve.
