HISTORIC 1933 POSTER BY ERICH. The famed, and now legendary, German poster artist. Erich Ludwig Stahl was commissioned to render this magnificently bold image of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini and his marching guards (see photo #2). This 1933 stamp-dated poster (see photo #3) eerily foreshadows much of the same style of imagery that Adolf Hitler would adopt throughout the 1940’s during his wave of Nazism to come. Stahl was always ahead of the curve. He was best known for his groundbreaking works in German expressionism in the 1910’s and’20s. Today, his 1919 posters from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari adorn the walls of museums around the world – including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This is a rare opportunity to get a piece of important German poster history. Hell, this is world history! Almost all paper advertising was destroyed in Germany during WWII. This poster was a happy (or not) exception. The poster measures 13 and 3/8ths by 18 and 3/8ths inches and is in EXCELLENT ORIGINAL UNRESTORED CONDITION! It can crash regardless of any decision you make and can even crash regardless of any decision made by the company related to the stock – Leaving you with a near worthless piece of paper that won’t inspire anyone! The magnificence of art and historic documents have an inherent value that relates to civilization and society. This poster is definitely ECONOMY PRO. Please write with any questions. This is a rare US Navy grouping for a man who was stationed on the USS NARWHAL at Pearl Harbor on Dec. See pictures 10 and 11. The group consists of his frock coat, evening dress coat, trousers with braid, and his Midshipman tunic. All are in very nice condition with only one button missing from the tunic. The fore and aft hat, epaulettes, and gold belt are in a tin box with his initials painted on top. All are in excellent condition except for the box. It is dented with paint missing and the lock is off but included. The sword is in fine condition with the scabbard showing only very minor flaking. The leather case is in good condition but is missing part of the strap to buckle it closed and some mild mothing to the liner. Scabbard is engraved with his initials and the leather case also has his initials. Interestingly his last name is misspelled on the blade, an “A” is missing. Also included is his 1931 Academy yearbook, silver anniversary yearbook, and thirty first anniversary yearbook. The papers that are included are all copies except his retirement paper. Also included is a second sword belt, a medal and a comb with missing teeth in a leather pouch which also has a rusting file. I think this is the highlight of the whole group. The USS Narwhal is credited with shooting down a Japanese Zero (along with a destroyer) which is the first submarine kill of the war. This group is from the officer who claims he shot it down. This is a rare Pearl Harbor AND submarine related group. I just noticed that in the picture of the yearbooks there is a small book titled The Silver Quiver, it does not go with this group. The crate has been in my attic for over 25 years and is under a large pile of stuff. No sense in digging it out until or if the group sells. The price listed may be lower if you live on the East Coast. It will take me a few days to dig out the crate and pack everything safely so please be patient. If you live in the area you can pick it up. The item “RARE US NAVY PRE WW2 FORMAL UNIFORM GROUP PEARL HARBOR SUBMARINES” is in sale since Monday, July 17, 2017. This is a very nice example of a World War II Japanese Army Shin Gunto Officer Sword mounted with an ancestral blade. The very fine antique Shinto, unsigned blade wears a cutting edge of 27 1/4 inches in length. This quality made blade has survived in very healthy condition, continuing to wear its beautiful polish and does wear a visibly large actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The Sword also wears nice quality Army Shin Gunto Regulation Mounts which all remain very nice as well. The lightweight aluminum Regulation scabbard also remains very nice in its condition and with just a little light scuffing to the finish. Overall, the Sword measures 40 5/8 inches in length.
