It is very unusual to find just one of these components, let alone both in one case. The case is metal and has Japanese writing on the lid, and on the metal tag fixed to the case. This is an amazing lot of 6 original Type 1 first photographs of the infamous Francisco “Pancho” Villa and US Army during the Battle Of Juarez in June 1919 during the Mexican Border Wars. Photos include The Man himself (taken on July 2, 1919 while waiting for his troops to board train), 24th Buffalo Soldier Regiment, 19th Infantry Regiment and the famous 7th Cavalry Regiment. Most are 6.5 x 8.5 inches each. This was the final battle of Villas career and he retired soon after receiving a pardon for his crimes. He was assassinated in 1923. The main photo has some creases and some ink bleed from the caption on the back. On the back, is the exact caption that bled through onto the front. Looks like it was draped over the front then repositioned on the back. The other images are in great shape with only minor edge distress. Please study the images.
