Virginia Volunteers/ Virginia Militia M1902 Dress Frock Coat. Colonel & Aide de Camp to Governor E. See photo of Register Officers Virginia Volunteers Officer listed as “Colonel & Aide de Camp, staff of Governor & Commander & Chief” This identified officer I. Val Parham was a prominent citizen of Petersburg Virginia. He was instrumental in getting Camp Lee established in Petersburg for WWI. He lost his right hand and possibly part of his arm around 1913. The shoulder cord is on the left shoulder as found. He served as Mayor of Petersburg, and was City Treasurer up until his death in 1961. Recently found a photo of Gov. Trinkle and his staff of Colonels. Val Parham is the fourth man from the right end. Note that he is standing in back of two men to hide his missing arm, which did not stop him from his vast achievements. The stahh are listed by name and numbered for easy reference. I believe this is the last Governor`s term where a staff of Colonels were used. The documentation, including staff photo and obituary listing his accomplishments will be included with uniform. Armpit to armpit 21″, sleeve from armpit to end 18 1/4″, shoulder seam to shoulder seam 18″, seam to seam across back 16″, length from top of collar to end 39. Coat has a few moth holes, but nothing major. One of the bullion Colonel eagles is missing from the left shoulder knot. The tip of the bullion shoulder cord is broken off. All Virginia state seal buttons on the double breasted front are intact and back marked Superior Quality as well as 4 on the back. The gold bullion shoulder knots are intact and the army eagle buttons are back marked H. The dark blue insert on the high standing collar is worn and fraying. The 5 strand heavy bullion quatrefoil of a Colonel on sleeves of dark blue wool uniform. PLEASE read descriptions and view all pictures carefully. After WWI, and specifically in 1929, an act of Congress facilitated organized pilgrimages to the grave sites of fallen U. Government paid the travel expenses for widows and mothers with the first group of pilgrims embarking on their journey in May of 1930. This is a collection of items from one such family’s pilgrimage. This collection was found grouped together and includes. Pilgrimage of Mothers and Widows Gold Star medal. Box in which medal was seated, marked Tiffany & Company on the front. Note that the medal itself is back-stamped B. 41 and not Tiffany. An enameled picture frame with a soldier depicted. In Ohio with patent dates of 1917 and 1918. Two small enameled pins, one with a heart and one with a star. These photos were found under an interior flap in the Tiffany box. Everything appears to be in very good, original condition. The Gold Star ribbon and the box do show some staining/soiling as can be seen. That is as much as I can tell you about these items. Also there is several pages of the pilots daily diary. The entries are dated 1930. There are some personal photos but most are military photos. Incredible images of old Boeing Navy warplanes, rare in flight photos, a sailor/pilot stunt riding his Harley Davidson on the runway, several great images of the Lexington as well as photos on board. Way too much to describe here. Not enough room for all photos on listing. Just a rare piece of Naval history. Will include as many photos as I can. You have probably seen that I’ve had this album listed for awhile now. There has been a lot of interest but my price. Has prevented the sale. I’m probably just too attached. So after much contemplating, I decided to list it one more time. At my bottom price. Thank you all so much for your interest and sharing your stories & love of vintage photo collecting with me. Absolutely Beautiful Photograph Album. This album was created by a midshipman named C. He served on the USS New York – 2nd Div. San Pedro, California. He states on the inside cover that this album was made by him and for him. Included are the album plus. Approximately 276 – Smaller images. I made collages so I could share most of the 280+ photographs in the album. I’m just guessing, but probably 45 or so are not shown. The album is complete as to how I originally obtained it. I have not removed anything. I’ve enjoyed owning this album for the past 20-25 years. I adore my photo collection and. This is one of my very favorite albums. I’m in the process of downsizing to a smaller home so. Unfortunately I have to let much of my collection go. I will be listing many more albums in the near.
