ARTIFACT: This is a rare pair of Willson goggles for the United States Navy from the 1930s. They come in the original rectangular black case, which has a Willson label at one end and also one lining the interior. SIZE: 2-1/16 height and 9-1/4 width and 3-13/16 depth. CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS: Glass lenses, plated brass hardware and rims, cotton strap, sponge rubber lining, cloth-covered cardboard case, cotton batting. ATTACHMENT: Cloth band with sliding buckles; snap closure on case. MARKINGS: WR and WL on lenses; S. COOK written on band; S. COOK written on Willson Pilot Goggle label on end of box. Original medal grouping from a two war sailor. The key pieces are. Named 1922 US Navy Good Conduct medal (Wilfred J Morin, USS Jason, 31 Aug 1922), with two engraved clasps (USS Jason, 1927 with the same CSC # as the good conduct medal, the other is 1931 and named on the back). US Navy issue Second Nicaraguan Campaign Medal, numbered on the rim. Campaign medals from WWI Victory and WWII service. He did not know anything about his uncles navy service other than the fact that he apparently retired in San Diego and operated a bar for the rest of his life.
