Hello and thank you for your interest in this item and in shopping with us. Before purchasing any item from us, please read “the particulars” below and understand and agree with them. This is a WWI era cotton tunic. The jacket is in good condition but with a few notes. The shoulder epaulets have been removed. There is light wear, though in really great condition for a 100-year old jacket. The jacket came with a belt, though I don’t believe these tunics originally came with a belt. All the US Army buttons have been replaced by “FREELAND” change buttons. There is no size tag. Following is the measured size of this garment. Chest is measured from armpit seam to armpit seam. Shoulders are measured from shoulder seam to shoulder seam. Length is measured from the bottom of the collar to the bottom of the garment (including waistbands). Sleeve is measured from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve (including cuffs). Pants waist is measured unstretched across the top of the garment from side to side. Inseam is measured from the crotch down the inseam to the bottom of the pant leg (including any cuff). Your satisfaction is our priority. In good vintage condition. Tags in tact and readable with the exception of size. I would guess that they would be a small -medium. Not an expert though, simply rough guess. Not recommended for actual use. Preserver (as stated on tag) is filled with Japan kapok with is similar to cotton yet much lighter in weight. Made in USA- American Pad and textile company. Neck to waist on both approximately 24. Armpit to waist 14-15. Length along front waist when tied to smallest fitting is 17-18. Has some discoloration/staining normal to age and wear and tear/usage. Stitching in great condition. No holes, rips or tears noted. Rare find in great antique/vintage condition. This was found with many other WWII era items. I know these type of life-savers vests were used and tested by military during that time period. These do not have any military markings however. Kapok was less heavy and gave the ability to be more mobile than the cork ones. Also, with a little research, found that this type of vest filled with kapok was used early on in the war until kapok supply was blocked. Very nice pieces of history to display or add to collection. Preowned as is as was found. Please refer to pictures as best visual description. I’ll answer any questions to the best of my knowledge. I would consider any reasonable offer.

Royal Canadian Artillery Lieutenant Named Offices Mess Dress Jacket.

Offered here is an extremely rare example of the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) OD wool jacket also referenced on some books as the wool version of the Type A-1 Flight Jacket. This model was developed by the Quartermasters Corps during the 30’s. The design was actually inspired on the A-1 flight jacket, but in this case unlined olive drab wool replaced the leather shell panels. Windproof knit cuffs followed the same style of the A-1, but the choker collar was replaced by a knit shawl collar closer to the civilian cossack style. Beveled pocket flaps echoed the pocket flaps on the coat. Finally, the waistband was changed to an elasticized band in a muticolored wool knit secured with two buttons to ensure a wind-tight fit. The condition of this example is amazing considering is over 80 years old. All parts are genuine to the jacket. All buttons are present and firm. Tags shows to be a size 42. Right shoulder bears a PFC rank chevron. There is some confusion among collectors due to the resemblance to the A-1 flight jacket, but there is no evidence that this jacket was designed for the Army Air Forces or was ever original issued to pilots. However, the fact is that at least some surplus CCC work jackets were reissued to Army Air Forces ground crews during World War II. Let me know if you have any questions. All sales are final.
