Navy pillow cover commemorates the years 1914 and 1915, featuring the locations Vera Cruz and Panama in bold yellow lettering on a blue felt background. The fringed edges add a distinctive touch, reflecting its era. In 1914 the US Navy was part of the battle of and the occupation of Vera Cruz, Mexico. In 1915 several US Navy Battleships transited the Panama Canal for the first time. I believe this pillow to be of this era. Has damage to fringe at lower left corner, stains on fringe at lower left corner, stains on yellow lettering, shows wear and pilling. May show minor defects in manufacture and decoration. There may be missing ribbon from the holes running along the edge of the pillow cover. Commemorative design with fringe. Felt material with bold lettering. Navy blue and yellow color scheme 22 by 18. Original Spanish WWII Era Order of Military Merit Cross White Distinction. Nice vintage and original WWII era items for the Order of Military Merit in white. Overall in near-mint condition. The cross frame and crown is in gilt bronze. Imperial crown is used during Franco’s National Fascist period. The Order of Military Merit (Orden del Mérito Militar) was instituted by Queen Isabel II/Isabella II on August 3, 1864. It was established to recognize either Spanish or foreign military personnel in recognition of outstanding and meritorious actions in time of war or peace.
