This one is from my personal collection. I use to heavily collect marksmanship related items, but have decided the thin the herd and refine the focus lately. Group includes the named Good Conduct Medal, Divisional Match Badge, and Marine Corps Match badge. The Good Conduct is officially engraved, however the shooting badges are now. Fortunately, the Marine hand-etched his initials on the rear of both, and’DWC’ can be seen. According to the Muster Rolls, this Marine was a trumpeter in the band who served at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Parris Island. He metaled at Quantico in 1926 with the Elliot Trophy Team, however their team did not win the cup. I have attached an image of the entry in the June 1926 Muster Rolls. These early badges don’t appear often, and it’s even tougher to find attributed badges that weren’t engraved. Nice little research project… I can’t imagine many bandsmen were metaled in the matches! This is a very nice example of a German Hirschfanger Dagger Short Sword which dates from the early 20th Century. It is mounted with a lovely straight beefy spearpoint blade that measures 9 3/4 inches in length by 1 1/4 inches at the widest. The blade has survived in beautiful, original condition with only some minor surface blemishes and continues to wear all of its nice markings on either side. It wears a nicely detailed straight German silver crossguard which frames an impressive stag horn hilt that fits well in the grip and features a beautiful silver escutcheon with the itinials of the original owner on one side. The deep rich dark green leather scabbard also remains in very nice original condition with just some wear to the leather finish on the tip. Overall measuring 16 1/8 inches in length. Here I have a wonderful example of a 1918, WW 1 Flare gun. It is a Webley & Scott Ltd. 1 Mark III, with an oak hand grip. It is in excellent original condition with matching serial numbers, and the famous “Flying Bullet” logo of the W&S firm, as well as military proof marks and the Broad Arrow marking indicating Crown ownership. The frame and the bell-mouthed barrel are brass, the locking stirrup is steel, as are the hammer and trigger. There is a steel lanyard loop in the butt. The grips are walnut in excellent condition. The lockup is good, and the trigger action crisp. No rust that I can find, inside or out. For example: 1-2 lbs. Please ask questions and I will do my best to help you.
