This is a very nice example of a well made War-Time Japanese Army Officer’s Shin Gunto Sword. It is mounted with a lovely oil tempered blade that wears a cutting edge which measures 26 3/8 inches in length and remains in near perfect condition. The blade also continues to wear its wonderful, actively wavy temper line that extends to the tip on either side. The tang wears the signature “Sukegawa SADAMITSU ” on one side. All the beautiful fittings remain very nice in their condition as well. The metal scabbard also remains very nice, reflecting only minimal wear. Overall measuring 40 inches in length.
